From Encampment Groningen (1/3):
'Why we don't want negotiations
This encampment in solidarity has three demands- boycott, divest, disclose. Over the course of the day, the university has repeatedly offered to negotiate with us, and every time, we have declined their offer. We think that some of you might wonder why we are protesting at the RUG but don't want negotiations with the RUG.
We entered them being somewhat hopeful that the university would listen to said demands after the first negotiation, but we were quickly let down by their performative and downright neoliberal statements in response to us trying to find justice for the genocide in Palestine. Only to be further met with intense double standards for Palestinian students in relation to Ukraine, as well as the tactics that have been employed throughout the Ukraine war and the Israeli war on Palestine intensely differ, where absolutely nothing has been achieved within the university to protect lives of Arabs, but otherwise, where we've faced multiple counts of censorship before the second negotiation and another censorship of an event a week after that. ...'
