I wanted to post at least one #looptober this year. Very scrappy etc, just poking around with #overtone and #clojure
Not sure I already announced it here, but I'll be giving a lighting talk about the future of Overtone at Clojure/conj. Hoping to see many of you there!
9 years ago at the @creativeCodeBLN Jam 4 people created this clip using #SuperCollider, #Overtone, #MaxMSP, #Processing

I miss such collaborations. I've been thinking of hosting a monthly jam to do this again. In one day, people figure out how to use their preferred tools to collaborate and produce a short audiovisual collage. It could include anything that can be recorded: speaking, singing, drawing, coding, dancing...
Overtone 0.14.3199 is out! #overtone is a live music programming environment based on #clojure and #supercollider .
This version adds a first release of the Overtone Pattern Libary, serving a similar purpose as the pattern libary in SuperCollider, but implemented in a much more clojure-y way (it's sequences all the way down).

You'll have to clone the repo if you want to already play around with this. It's all very work-in-progress, and not yet documented (at all). But I can point you at some examples to start from.

Looking for live coders! —musicians and visualists— for a night of live code performances in an immersive projection environment.
Endemics Collective is hosting PLANET TKARONTO in Toronto, Canada on June 8, a satellite event for the International Conference on Live Coding 2024.
The call for performers with more info is at:
https://bit.ly/planet-tkaronto .
Live coding is inclusive and accessible to all. We are looking for performers who challenge conventional forms and techniques, disrupting traditional aesthetics and values, and who can engage with the audience directly in the art-or-music-making process, breaking down the barriers between artists and audiences. Performers from underrepresented groups or backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Hello everyone, I am Diego (aka videco)! I love making music with code and also with other instruments (#electricguitar, #drums, #lumatone).
Among the music projects where I participate, probably the most relevant for this server is Pirarán, a networked ensemble.
My favorite coding tool/language is #overtone (#clojure) for which I've developed libraries related to #microtonality and #polytemporality, as well as a port of #tidalcycles called #piratidal. I also like #tidalcycles #supercollider and #hydra.
Conceptually one of my primary motivators is exploring creativity as a natural phenomena. I do so by conceiving thought/imagination as an ecosystem where different ideas get to co-evolve, and so, I try to think of the projects I work on as part of a network of relations and the products, not as things in themselves, but as parts of a bigger whole. Consequently I place great emphasis on #collaboration as diversity is most important to maintain the dynamic equilibrium of ecosystems and to keep them healthy and lively. As part of all that #chaostheory, #systemstheory, #ecology and #anarchy are also things that interest me.
You can find more information on the music at https://echoic.space

Finally got around to making an Overtone video, Overtone being a live music coding environment.
This is just the basic steps to install and get it to work, I'll show how to do actual cool stuff with in in future videos, but hopefully this already encourages some people to give it a try!

Church bells made with Karpluss-Strong synthesis. This is usually used to create string sounds like guitar, but turns out you can also create pretty realistic bells with it. This seems to be a novel idea, I don't really find anyone talking about this.
Made with #Overtone, of course :)
Overtone 0.13 is out! Overtone is a live music coding environment based on Clojure and SuperCollider.
This release improves the experience on Linux by auto-connecting the audio outputs. It also adds hotplugging of MIDI devices, and a bunch of other improvements and fixes.

Spent the weekend reviving an old Quil+Overtone project, MiniBeast. It's a pretty cool synth. I put out a jar which you can download and run standalone, do give it a go!
We're working on a renewal project for #Overtone, the #Clojure live music coding environment.
If that sounds interesting then you are encouraged to join the mailing list
And to join the #overtone
channel on Clojurians slack
First order of business is getting a new release out with the accumulated changes and fixes, and then we'll take it from there.
