For me it is difficult to distinguish between Xylocopa violacea and Xylocopa valga. But in this photo, this Xylocopa bee shows the back of the thorax so yellowish that it looks like another variety (Xylocopa pubescentes, Xylocopa virginica?) It would be very strange because the photo was taken in Valencia at the end of April.
Is there an entomologist in the room?

Auf diesem Foto zeigt diese Xylocopa-Biene die Rückseite des Thorax so gelblich, dass sie wie eine andere Art aussieht (Xylocopa pubescentes, Xylocopa virginica?) Es wäre sehr seltsam, weil das Foto Ende April in Valencia aufgenommen wurde.

Bughunt was a washout, so, while one had the silly macro on, one did all the tiny flowers. Spotted medick. It's always a joy. #bloomscrolling #macrophotography

The bughunt turned up mostly nondescript flies, two damselflies that immediately went to the top of a tree, some scorpionflies that treated me as a leper, and so I bothered a shieldbug and some red ants instead. Got a running red ant though, so I'm not that rusty yet. #macrophotography

Esto si que es una mariquita. Ultimamente mi intención no es hacer una foto más o menos detallada, sino que la composición de la imagen y contraste de colores sean atractivos. Una mariquita de siete puntos (coccinella septempunctata) acaba de aterrizar sobre una hoja de Ruellia simplex (petunia).

Dies ist ein echter Marienkäfer. Letztendlich geht es mir nicht darum, ein mehr oder weniger detailliertes Bild zu machen, sondern darum, den Bildaufbau und den Farbkontrast attraktiv zu gestalten. Thrifted a swanky 50mm prime lens and a macro extension tube for my Minolta film camera a couple weeks ago; just finally tried it out this past weekend and it was a ton of fun :3

Here are a couple dragonfly close-ups from my first roll with the new lens; they aren’t perfect, but for a first attempt I’m super happy with them! Next time I’ll definitely go for a faster film lol, getting enough natural light for these was a struggle

and a not-sure-what-this-is in our apartment complex, to add to the pool of #Bloomscrolling for the day

The near focus of the macro lens on my phone is so close, immediately after taking this picture, I knocked the lavender & sent the spider tumbling into the bushes

Fortunately it had attached a safety line & hauled itself back up again
