To other #JAWS #ScreenReader users, is anyone who uses #JAWS2025 having issues with the results viewer? I'm not sure when it started, but mine is completely inaccessible. Anytime I try to use PictureSmart, FS Companion, or anything else that uses the results viewer, it opens, but I can't read anything. JAWS won't do anything while on that window, and escape doesn't close it like it should. I tried repairing JAWS but that didn't fix anything, so I'm wondering if it's a script I use causing the problem. The only scripts I have installed are Leasey and the Zoom pro scripts by @brian_hartgen and a few scripts for things like Discord and Unigram by Doug Lee. I'm starting to contemplate a complete reinstall of JAWS though because not being able to use the results viewer is causing me more and more pain.

I am wondering if it is possible with #NVDA to search for text in specific colours.

Let's say a co-worker sends you a document and tells you that they have formated some sentences in red and others marked with a yellow background.

How would I quickly find such sentences?

With #JAWS the skim reading feature comes to mind. But I don't know if there is a way to do the same thing with #NVDA.

Tried the free edition of the #ZDSR #screenreader because I was curious. I will say that for my use-case, if #ZDSR was fully documented in English, it competes a lot more directly with #nvda than #jaws does, runs fine in a virtual machine, and has a bunch of stuff built in that I use NVDA addons for. If it had an English website I'd probably grab a copy for the entirely reasonable price. But I'm not willing to purchase through translation.

So, Leasey users, have you experienced this? I had just upgraded from 9 to 10, and press Leasey then H for the help screen. Since I was in file explorer, I got explorer based help. I wanted to get back to the main list, so tabbed to where I could do that. Then, I got this:

unknown script call to:
leaseyhotkeyhelpalternative

And it didn't work. I'll try restarting JAWS, but any other ideas? Will I need to reset my JAWS?

So, last night, I tried using my NLS EReader as a Braille display without any speech. And, um, does no screen reader have modifier keys set? I looked through (some) of the JAWS keyboard manager, and NVDA's documentation, and found no alt, Windows, Control, Insert... That's kinda strange. Anyway I'm sure I'm missing something.

Attention, blind Akkoma users! I will be writing to the developer with my concerns about a few problems with accessibility on this platform. Most should be easy to resolve. Please let me know if you find any more, and also state what browser and screen reader you are using. Note: This is in reference to the site itself, not to your client of choice. I will post about that separately. For the record, I use NVDA with Firefox.

  1. Many buttons are unlabelled and simply say "button". This is true on the main page as well as when viewing posts and tabs in profiles. Most work once pressed. They just need to be labelled.
  2. Searching for people, tags, groups, and posts is inaccessible. I can enter the edit field and write my text, but then, there are two unlabelled buttons next to that. The first simply takes me back to the edit field. The second does nothing. I am assuming this is a submit button that doesn't work via the keyboard.
  3. It is impossible to view followers, as well as those whom I follow. I can see the numbers of each but not the people and groups themselves.
  4. I cannot read my own profile without editing it. There appears to be no link where I can simply view it, either as myself or anonymously. If I go to my page and am not logged in, however, I can view it. I can also easily edit it when logged in.
  5. The page renders very differently in Chrome than in Firefox. In Chrome, I can't see anything but my notifications, so I can't get to my page or the other timelines.

Hello,

I recently embarked on a trip to celebrate my birthday, which is today.

During my travels, I captured an exceptional photograph of my friend and me. I would like to save this photograph as my desktop background.

However, I am encountering an issue. The photograph is embedded within the message rather than being recognized as an attachment by #Jaws.

Given this information, I would appreciate your guidance on the most effective method to save this photograph.

I have attempted to select the photograph and invoke the context menu using Shift + F10. However, this action does not provide me with the option to save the image. Upon selecting the photograph, all options are rendered grayed out.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

@joplinapp I just heard about your app tonight, during a class I attended. I'm visually impaired & your app was mentioned as a free alternative to OneNote. However, on my #Windows11 computer, with the #JAWS #Screen-reader, I'm unable to sync because it's insisting that I create a Joplin Cloud account, which I found out, has a cost associated with it. Would you be willing to provide more info on pricing? I was unable to find it on your website? (1/2)
