Am I the only one who monitors audio during #FT8 sessions?

I'm guessing that some peeps don't, as I'd think it would be really easy to audibly hear that you're FIVE FULL SECONDS out of sync with everyone else's transmission cycles.

Been hearing (and seeing) somebody on 15m, no doubt calling CQ, that desperately needs to sync their computer clock to a proper time source. They're so off the mark, I can't decode them, and surely they're not decoding the rest of us either.

It was the perfect day to give my new FT-891 go box a spin. I drove into D’Aguilar National Park just 45 minutes away from home only to find the road to my carefully selected spot closed due to storm damage. Luckily, there are plenty of picnic areas in the park and Bellbird Grove has lots of trees and tables. I activated the park (AU-1411) on 20m with 40 watts and an EFHW antenna. I even got a surprise QSO all the way over to Texas!

Should I get a zBitx as my first HF radio, or should I buy an older used workbench radio from a trusted ham? I have ~$500 USD to play with and I’m wanting to get on the HF bands finally (yes, I am General class already)

Loads of fun getting five 10 meter #FT8 QSOs on lunch break with a <$200 rig. On top of an #NCState parking deck. I have to remember my portable table next time!

Family holiday is #POTA time! Yesterday, on my way to Northern Denmark I activated DK-0010 near Aalborg.
Today my father and me activated DK-0005 in the morning, and DK-0012 in the afternoon.

Conditions were very noisy on 20 m, especially in the afternoon, but we got multiple QSOs with 59 in both directions. One station even told us we were the loudest station on 20 m at that time.

I'm toying with the idea of re-enabling the ability of subscribing to new blog posts via email. As I return to work next week, my blog postings will become a bit more sporadic again.

I got my #kiwisdr up and running, it's recording 192 kHz Radio 4 LW to catch some of the radioteleswitch transmissions before they are turned off later in June.

My only fixed HF antenna is quite an unusual one. It is an inverted Vee, but with an angle of only about 60°. The feedpoint is on a window at the roof ridge. From there, two wires (about 4.5 m long each) go down to the edges of the balcony's balustrade which is incidentally also about 4.5 m wide. So the legs of the antenna basically form two edges of an equilateral triangle.
