This is also hurting alternative search engines. Many sites seem to block access to any crawler that is not Google or Bing. It probably wouldn't have got that bad if 'AI' companies hadn't indiscriminately flooded the Web with their crawlers. Even more reasons to create #curated #search engines with substantial human involvement.

Featuring over 20 original neon signs sought from film sets, Gold Coast motels, through to the iconic Stefan’s rainbow, explore its #history through #photographs and original footage of Queensland alight from the State Library’s collection.

Let's turn the #Fediverse into one of two things, at once:

  • Personal, #curated space to interact with your family, your friends and communities sharing a mutual interest - think #Discord, #WhatsApp ! This is our #Messaging and our #Forums (optional indexability!)
  • And also, somewhere to make a public speech. This is #Blogging - can be text, long-form videos, podcasts... And where do you find those blogs? Well, remember those topic-specific communities we made? What if we just... Move the feeds to those?

So, my opinion: #DitchTheFeed. No more main feed. What do we need it for? There's no main feed of everything everyone says irl. We don't even want the endless feed of classical social media, it's addictive! And fuck it, "echo chambers"? This entire concept is inapplicable in the fediverse - one can just fediblock every instance they don't like! And we are doing that. We're blocking rightists from fedi. We're creating a leftist echo chamber! And it's amazing!
