Please understand that #Murkowski, #Collins, and #McConnell only voted against #Hegseth because they could do so without endangering his nomination. It was a fake vote of conscience intended to contribute to salvaging their unsalvageable reputations. If Hegseth had needed their votes to be confirmed, they would have voted for him. Which senators get to vote performatively like this without endangering the outcome is carefully choreographed in advance of the vote.

Does #Senator #Collins think that she should receive special treatment if she commits a crime? I’d like to know the answer to that question.

There are too many #politicians, #oligarchs, and #celebrities who expect that they will never be held accountable for their illegal acts. This attitude needs to be confronted & ended.

U.S. Sen. #Susan #Collins voted for former South Carolina Gov. #Nikki #Haley in Tuesday’s Republican presidential primary, becoming only the third member of Congress to back the longshot challenger to former President Donald Trump.

Collins, a longtime Trump skeptic who was one of seven Republicans to vote to convict him on a Democratic impeachment charge related to the Capitol riots of Jan. 6, 2021, backed Haley in a Friday statement in response to questions from the Bangor Daily News.
She called Haley “extremely well-qualified” to be the first female president.
“She has the energy, intellect, and temperament that we need to lead  our country in these very tumultuous times,” Collins said.
