I finally read James Spooner's afropunk loveletter "The High Desert" last night and it was *wonderful* -- A crucially eye-opening tale of how the DIY punk scene guided some of us out of the teenage misery years. The settings, references, and diction are definitely Of a Certain Time, and I found the passages about the author's fateful trip to NYC and ABC no RIO to be super relatable. Loved every page of it -- highly recommended! #afropunk #graphicnovel #bookstodon
