@pizzatreeisland well, the OSM Foundation and HOT have had some problems, mainly due to HOT using the OSM trademark in their name without prior permission. And there are some rough spots between OSM and Overture due to the highly commercial nature of Overture versus the open-source ethos of many in the OSM community. So HOT becoming a member company of Overture would make some people in the OSM community give a side-eye.
