I am sad to not be able to safely attend FOSDEM this year. There are so many people I want to spend time with.

However, as is the case with hundreds or maybe thousands of us past attendees, our immune systems can't handle the risk of such a crowded event that makes no effort to implement a health and safety plan.

SARS-CoV-2 viral load levels in Belgium this January were 43x what they were in July, as indicated by highly reliable wastewater sampling.

@downey @phpledge maybe make it (a tag) so people following it read it and think about it? I didn't go either for the same reason (prospects of or just the "fosdem "), and many of the people I usually meet there neither. I really wish there would be a next year...
