Still disappointed that the new #fairphone5 doesn't have an #audioJack . Was there ever any discussion about it, #fairphone ? In your release you talk about users begging for #oled , but I heard a lot of people asking about the good old jack instead.
Could you reveal any numbers behind https://support.fairphone.com/hc/en-us/articles/9836188988049-Audio-Jack-3-5mm 's "user want thinner phones, not headphone jacks"?
@alxd
.... I've never understood the problem.
If you have wired headphones, just use a high quality usb-c dongle, you have a cable with you anyway. is the dongle really going to make that much of a difference?
The reality is that 95% of people have switched to using wireless headphones or earbuds instead
@thibaultmol do you have any source on the 95%? ;)
The wireless earbuds or headphones produce much more waste and are much harder to repair than a wired set - not even mentioning the Bluetooth security.
As for the dongle: it's hard to get a dongle which allows you to both charge your phone and listen to music, which I tend to do.
@alxd " do you have any source on the 95%? ;)"
no, just observing my surroundings. Barely see any wired heaphones around.
Bluetooth security isn't that bad. it's not like I'm typing in my password through a bluetooth earbud.
They are indeed harder/impossible to repair. Counterpoint: They're much smaller and require much less materials. But yeah, I agree that it sucks that they're less repairable.
