The world is full of contradictions.
In the past, I have struggled to convince Common Lisp programmers - who prefer CL because of its direct manipulation - about the importance of direct manipulation in document editing.
And now I struggle to convince #Fediverse users - who prefer the Fediverse because it is federated - that they should apply the same principles to chat, and move away from centralized chat platforms like #Signal to federated networks like #XMPP

@contrapunctus well what I come to understand, let them have everything installed on the phone. Signal, whatsapp. But for personal chat with family they can switch to xmpp
@methuselah Maybe But it's also a little frustrating when they still use WhatsApp with people who are on XMPP and in their contact list...
The reason given is that a handful of people are on XMPP, but far more are on WhatsApp...so I've started asking them to ask others to install Quicksy too.
@contrapunctus just share a link and make sure you keep an eye on the playstore when conversations are free. So that you can install it over there.

Installing Quicksy based on this post
@contrapunctus
Hmm, either the contact syncing/discovery isn't working for me or zero of my contacts are on there
@da5nsy Almost certainly the latter. I hope you've given it access to your contacts, though
