Just out of curiosity: Has the US OSM community discussed mapping polling places? That would be legal from government data, or would it? Or do the locations change so frequently that they are too hard to keep up to date?

@alfons234 there was a brief thread in the OSM US Slack around the 2020 election, people have mapped ballot drop off boxes. Polling places are often schools, gyms, libraries, etc and it's good to check those places are mapped. Also mapping sidewalks & connections to polling places.
@akadouri @alfons234 I desperately need to remember to mail our secretary of state about their ballot drop box data.
@akadouri @alfons234 surprisingly, many of the drop box locations are extremely easy to see on aerials.
@alfons234 In many states I think you can only vote at your assigned polling place (although early voting is usually more flexible, but also often much fewer locations). In the places that are more flexible (such as California) it's still harder to vote at the wrong one, and some of your votes might not count. (That is, they give you the local ballot for where you're voting, and once you vote, they send it to the right place, and count the votes for the elections that are valid there.)
