in Wien gibt es in Florisdorf eine Kolonie Graureiher. Sie brüten auf einer Insel und können von Land wunderbar beobachtet werden ohne sie zu stören.
Am Wochenende war ich kurz in Wien um liebe Menschen zu treffen habe aber die Zeit am Sonntag vor der Heimfahrt genutzt die Reiher zu besuchen. Graueiher im Prachtkleid sind schon toll und die "Kleinen" sehen immer aus wie Punks. So süß.

In Vienna there is a colony of grey herons in Florisdorf. They breed on an island and can be observed wonderfully from land without disturbing them.
I was briefly in Vienna at the weekend to meet some lovely people but used the time on Sunday to visit the herons before travelling home. Grey herons in their finery are great and the ‘little ones’ always look like punks. So cute.

heute haben wir u.a. Kleiber beobachtet. Auf dem ersten Bild ist ehr bei seiner Namensgebenden Tätigkeit zu sehen. Er verputzt das Einflugloch seiner Neubauwohnung mit einem Lehm-Speichel-Gemisch um das Loch so kleiner zu machen. Das soll später die Brut vor größeren Eindringlingen schützen. Kleiber sind Handwerker, die Lehmwände erstellen.

Hallo meine geliebten und nicht geliebten Lebensformen,
Ich hab heute ein bißchen Zeit mit den Turmfalken verbracht, die neben meiner Unterkunft brüten und heftigst am Balzen waren.
Abends hab ich dann diesen Turmfalken an anderer Stelle getroffen. Er lies sich sehr lange beobachten und ist erst nach 10 Minuten weiter geflogen.

Apropos fliegen, solidarische Grüße an die streikenden Kolleg:innen am Münchner Flughafen. Ich hattte gehofft ich dürfte länger hier bleiben, aber es verlängert sich nur die Reisezeit über Frankfurt mit dem Zug nach München. Kein Spaß mit 2 Koffern, 2 Kamerarucksäcken und zwei Laptops. Aber euer Streik ist wichtig und richtig, ihr sorgt jeden Tag dafür, dass alles klappt. Da müssen dann auch Arbeitsbedingungen und Bezahlung stimmen.

Meine lieben Lebensformen,
Ich finde es auf Lanzarote etwas schwieriger Vögel zu fotografieren als auf Fuerteventura. Viele Teile sind nicht so leicht zugänglich und die, die zugänglich sind, sind recht voll.
Aber wenn, dann sind es tolle Motive, wie hier die Rostgans auf der Lavaerde. Bei den kanarischen Rostgänsen handelt es sich nicht um Gefangenschaftsflüchtlinge.

I find it a little more difficult to photograph birds on Lanzarote than on Fuerteventura. Many parts are not so easily accessible and those that are accessible are quite crowded.
But, when they are, they are great subjects, like the Ruddy Shelduck on the lava earth here.

heute gibt es die Sahara-Kragentrappe (Unterart Chlamydotis undulata fuertaventurae / Fuerteventura-Kragentrappe).
Meist sieht man sie immer nur um den Sonnenauf- und Untergang, heute konnte ich sie einmal bei fast perfektem Licht erwischen. Hab mich sehr gefreut.

You usually only see them around sunrise and sunset, but today I was able to catch them in almost perfect light. I was very pleased.

Meine liebsten Lebensformen und Lebensunformen,
gestern hab ich keine Fotos gemacht, hab einfach Wind, Sonne und mehr genossen. Heute wollte ich eigentlich Fotos vom Wiedehopf machen, es hat sich aber keiner gezeigt, so bin ich dann nochmal zu den Kuhreihern. Und da hat es mir besonders dieser Teenager angetan.
Er ist immer auf den Bürgersteig, wenn keiner gekommen ist und hat ein wenig dusselig geschaut und ist dann immer wieder schnell zurück auf die Wiese.

I didn't take any photos yesterday, just enjoyed the wind, sun and more. Today I actually wanted to take photos of the hoopoe, but none showed up, so I went back to the cattle egrets. And I was particularly taken with this teenager.
He always came out onto the pavement when no one was around, looked a bit silly and then quickly returned to the meadow.

Das hier ist kein Schwarzkehlchen und auch kein Braunkehlchen, es ist der Kanarenschmätzer. Die Abspaltung von der Art des europäischen Schwarzkehlchen erfolgte vor 1,3-1,7 Millionen Jahren. Also vor verdammt langer Zeit. Dafür sehen sie sich schon noch ähnlich.

This isn't a stonechat or a whinchat, it's the Canary Island chat. It split off from the European stonechat species 1.3-1.7 million years ago. So a damn long time ago. But they still look similar.
