Peter DL6PL<p>I'm more of an HF guy, but as my CW course is progressing, I tested my options for local practice QSOs on VHF yesterday.<br>Even with 2.5 W PEP of my &gt;40 year old FT-290R and my self-built monoquad (attached to my window from the inside), I'm able to talk to stations in USB up to 7 km away from me, within a densely populated city of millions. (Even in directions where I would not expect it)<br>Signal report in cw is 599, which also blows my mind. Thanks to the Draussenfunker-Glühwein*-<a href="https://social.darc.de/tags/POTA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>POTA</span></a> lots of radio amateurs were in the park. I made also 4 contacts to DE-0261/DE-0622/DE-0558 as well as 2 SSTV QSOs on 144,500 MHz.<br>I had to leave a little bit earlier since I'm recovering from a cold and don't want to worsen it. As usual from a small hill in Berlin with counts for <a href="https://radiosocial.de/tags/POTA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>POTA</span></a> (<a href="https://radiosocial.de/tags/DE0315" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DE0315</span></a>).</p><p>I think, it was the first time that I worked Switzerland from Berlin.
