All proceeds go to the Pacific Rim Whale Festival to support whales and the health of our oceans.

This is a 2:1 wide image of the surfing beach at the north end of Cox Bay near Tofino, BC. Although a colour image, the colours are so muted that it appears to be grayscale. The waves are rolling into the shore, and several people are on surfboards, enjoying what may be the last ride of the day as the sun is setting behind the clouds in the background.

I have a recurring annual calendar appointment for March 16. Today is the 102nd anniversary of Comox-Alberni MP A.W. Neill's first speech in his 21 year career in the House of Commons (1921-45) where he called for a "white British Columbia”.

Neill was a white supremacist, anti-Asian racist, and one of the loudest voices for Japanese Internment. He was also an Indian Agent dealing with First Nations and Residential Schools on Vancouver Island's West Coast.

In 2021 his name was removed from a local school but he remains honoured with a street name.

I will continue reminding people of this until that honour is removed.

Sage Haven Society has been helping people fleeing domestic violence for over 30 years. It has run a transition house for women for most of that time that acts as a safe refuge m for people and their families in their most vulnerable moments.

This year Sage Haven opened a beautiful new building for second stage housing which will provide longer term housing for people in their journey away from violence and toward stability.

People from all over Western Vancouver Island and from all backgrounds use the many services Sage Haven provides.

Sage Haven Society helps women, gender diverse people, and families fleeing domestic violence in #PortAlberni and around the West Coast of Vancouver Island, Canada. It has run an emergency transition house for women for over 30 years and just opened this fall a brand new Second Stage Housing project to provide a longer term bridge of housing to help people get back on their feet before finding permanent housing. It is beautiful!

CNOY is the biggest fundraiser of the year and contributes hugely to all of the services Sage Haven provides (link in a following toot).
