#toilets

We were just watching #Delos on #plumbing. They show the problems common on boats with #toilets blocking, flooding, & smelling. Then they show their very expensive solutions to make them serviceable, reliable, & reduced chance of problems. Very sophisticated.
However, there is an alternative approach. Instead of more expense, complexity and space the other option to avoid all the problems is so simple (and better environmentally) is #composting toilets.
Plus they also work in boatyards.

Seems to me that the government and ‘equality’ comission tripping over themselves to find ways to exclude [but not exclude trans people] are essentially saying that all toilets are now available to everyone.
How else could you rationally or sensibly interpretation their nonsensical and contradictory pronouncements? Denying anyone a place to relieve themselves on gounds of their appearance is segregation, like historical racism segregation - It doesn’t matter if they are people of different ethnicity, people who do not loo k like some stereotype of ‘male’ or ‘female’. #TransRightsAreHumanRights #Toilets #ProChoice #Autonomy

BBC NewsGreens call for single-sex guidance to be withdrawnCarla Denyer says the equalities watchdog's guidance puts trans people at risk of discrimination.

#Building sites must have #toilets by law (if the ones in the houses are not suitable to use, maybe not yet plumbed in) - if the #builders are leaving #piss bottles around then it seems like its done as a deliberate "fuck you" to their employers and the end customers as they hate them and their jobs (likely linked to incel / manosphere behaviour) #construction #trades #ToxicMasculinity

Time for
#trans and #cis #women to carry #rape #whistles into the #toilets and when either a #man or #woman starts to #harass you then blow that fucking whistle and scream out "rape!"

Because what's happening to these women is still ASSAULT!

OK, Mastodon/Fediverse plumbing and toilet enthusiasts

I have a toilet that requires holding the handle open to fully flush, i.e. the flapper is closing too quickly before the tank empties

Do I need to replace the flapper or is there a way to adjust how quickly it closes?

At yesterday's family get together we got onto the subject of toilets (as you do).

With me being a train nerd and my son working in the rail industry we got to train toilets.

Son was regailing us with second hand stories of track workers in the age of carriages without toilet retention tanks - a flush at 100mph while standing next to the track doesn't bear thinking about!

Are Australia's 4WD enthusiasts wrecking the bush?
From bushwalking to ALL TERRAIN driving in the bush

"4WD touring is booming and it's putting unprecedented pressure on the bush. The increased traffic is also degrading many of the tracks...Many of the tracks are historical — initially built for logging, gold mining or firebreaks — and are not designed for four-wheel driving. These tracks proliferate, they very rarely disappear."

"Something bogs up, drivers go round it, and it gets bigger, damages vegetation and spreads weeds and pests...The rules for four-wheel drives are the same whether you're in a national park or in a state forest, you're supposed to drive them on a road. You're not supposed to drive them around in the bush, willy nilly."

"Seasonal closures can also protect areas at risk of degradation. The spokesperson says 181 infringements totalling more than $60,000 were given to people caught driving cars or riding trail bikes illegally off-road or in restricted areas last year."

Déjà vu of SUVs being washed in a perennial stream (Orara River) on the eastern slopes of the Dorrigo Plateau and nappies deposited on river rocks.

Unchecked tourism at Bellingen's Never Never River
Indigenous custodians embrace chance to curb tourism at 'trashed' swimming spot

"Occasional closure part of Indigenous Protected Area plan for troubled Never Never River's Promised Lands. The spot has now been declared part of an 81,000-hectare Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) in the Bellingen Valley."

"There have been concerns about pollution in the Never Never River at a popular swimming spot known as the Promised Lands, near the town of Bellingen...In January 2023, water quality at the river showed concerning levels of faecal matter, with human and dog excrement the suspected source."

"It was once regarded as something of a secret spot, but coverage on social media has seen it become an increasingly popular swimming site. But as the site is not recognised as a tourist area by Forestry Corporation NSW, which manages the Crown Land, there are no public toilets or rubbish bins, and minimal parking."

"Rather than it being a free-for-all, driving up and down from sacred places, we need to give it a rest sometimes during the year."
