Dragged the big scope and its solar filter outside for a closer look at the enormous sun spot group that's currently sitting in the center, Active Region 4079.

Added an Earth and Jupiter for scale.

An archipelago of dark spots on the surface of the sun. They are surrounded by a slightly lighter region. Some mottled texture is visible on the sun; convection cells the size of continents.

Off to the side are pasted images of Earth (which is unrecognisably tiny) and Jupiter (which is about 10 Earths across). The sunspot group is much larger than Jupiter.

Quiet sunlight on a forest stream.

Looking down on a small section of stream. It is a long exposure so the bubbling bouncing stream has been smoothed. There is whitewater that is soft white and there is sunlight reflected on the water that looks like thousands of tiny fireflies.

Day 4 of sunspot imaging! The smaller ones seem to have faded (or maybe it was shooting through high clouds?), but the big cluster is awfully pretty.

Via Saragozza, Bologna. On your right here begins The Portico of San Luca which is the longest portico/arched walkway in the world. It is almost 4 kilometers long (3,796 meters) and has 666 vault arches - if you follow the portico it brings you up to il Santuario Madonna di San Luca.
