MClare<p>First up (for today), building a <a href="https://recurse.social/tags/choropleth" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>choropleth</span></a> of the active licensed <a href="https://recurse.social/tags/structuralengineers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>structuralengineers</span></a> in the U.S. A linear hue scaling of # of SEs makes a pretty boring map. California dwarfs basically all other states. I'm thinking I might need to normalize the data with pop density.</p><p><a href="https://recurse.social/tags/dataviz" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dataviz</span></a> <a href="https://recurse.social/tags/aec" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>aec</span></a> <a href="https://recurse.social/tags/maps" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>maps</span></a></p>
MClare<p>Back in December, I compiled the data for all of the partial practice (AK, CA, GA, NV, OK, OR, UT, WA) and full practice (IL, HI) states, and post-processed all duplicate licenses to determine what the actual population of licensed <a href="https://recurse.social/tags/structuralengineers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>structuralengineers</span></a> is in the U.S.</p>
