A technical question about SPI. I'm looking at a machine, that has 5 SPI peripherals and a controller. The same CS signal is connected to all of the peripherals.

Am I correct in my thinking that if I would want to reshuffle the devices without access to the firmware in the controller, I'm basically out of luck since it pushes data to all the peripherals with the expectation that the first one takes its piece, forwards the rest to the second and and so forth until everyone has had their share?

okay I am getting a bit overwhelmed with the libreboot flashing equipment guides. I am just looking for a (SPI) flasher/programmer, for making a general backup of chips and doing a recovery flash in case my BIOS is bricked or whatever - oh and I could fix the Thunderbold chip bug on my T480 for good without installing Windows...

Any recommendations/extra guides on what hardware I should get?

I hope this is the correct page: libreboot.org/docs/install/spi

Need a fancy name to use instead of #selfhosting? I got something for ya ;)

Introducing #SPI — the Sovereign Private Infrastructure. Sounds a lot more sophisticated :) (Yes, I work in marketing, I admit :)

And yes, the S could also be Self-managed or Self-owned if you want to avoid Sovereign. I however think it is time to take language back from the extremists. Best way is to confuse them. Divide et impera, as true Federati should do :)

Well, The War of the Ring is over.

I don't know what to tell folk back at the Shire, except to prepare themselves for an age of Sharkey's Rules.
The Mouth of Sauron and five Ringwraiths, including the Lord of the Nazgul, confronted the Fellowship at Mount Doom. Gothmog was killed by Boromir, but in the end even he couldn't protect the Halflings from the Lord of the Nazgul, who killed the Ringbearer, and quickly whisked the One Ring to Barad-Dur.
