Much of the quiet things reflected a view of the role of the state which #neoliberals do not share - although historically many #conservatives did. And it did not help that #newlabour allowed itself to be gaslit by the #right while in office - a mistake the present #labour government seems in danger of repeating!
How absurd would you find it if:
a T-mobile customer couldn’t call someone with Vodafone?
a Gmail user couldn’t email someone with Hotmail?
Would you think: “This is absolutely unacceptable!”
And yet we accept this when it comes to:
Not being able to video call from MS Teams to someone using Google Meet.
Sending messages from a WhatsApp client to a Signal user.
Why don’t we demand:

not voting has no blame in the minds of some on the #left
because their personal feeling about themselves is more important than mattering in the world
so voting for a #candidate they feel is impure is so terrible, they don't #vote, then the #right wins
that's #toxidealism in a nutshell:
people whose personal sense of their #ideological purity, how they feel about themselves, is more important than messy impure strategy to get effective change in the world
