From our #BIPOC #sisterhood #nonprofit org, #SNIWWOC in #VictoriaBC - Please boost.

Our newest program is here to give BIPOC #menstruators the freedom to be a part of essential activities and not be excluded due to a lack of #MenstrualProducts.

Did you know that up to 70% of menstruators have missed school or work because of their period?

Or that nearly a quarter of Canadian menstruators and a third of menstruators under 25, have reportedly struggled to afford menstrual products for themselves or their dependents?

As an all-women, BIPOC-led and BIPOC-comprised organization, SNIWWOC understands the needs of our community and we are focused on improving their health from a holistic and integrated service model.

With efforts to be #EcoConscious, this program will provide applicants with one #reusable #MenstrualCup to support their period needs.

The #MenstrualFreedom program is funded by The Sovereign Order of St. John of Jerusalem, we thank you for your donation!

Eligibility:

Black Women, Indigenous Women, and Women of Colour, Transgender, Non-binary, and Two-Spirit community menstruators.

Must make less than the low-income cut-off line, see the table(on website).

#Reusable #bags target poor people because:

1. Single Use #Plastic bags are never single use to #poor people. They use them for storage and as garbage bags. Typically getting two to three uses our of each bag. I'm not going to provide evidence of what is patently obvious to anyone who's spent time in #poverty.

2. Reusable bags cost money. Most places allow you to pay a small amount for paper bags. So, what used to be a free multi-use item now costs #money with additional money now required for storing and #garbage.

3. Poor people often have to engage in expedient shopping. That is, combining a #shopping trip with having to go somewhere else. This is because they are both money and time poor, and so have to be efficient. This creates the burden of having to always have a reusable bad on them. If they forget, it's even more money.

Carto-Lab Docker for #cartography now has its own documentation at cartolab.theplink.org/

I have been using this tool for more than 5 years to do #transparent, #reproducible and #reusable #research using open source software with #jupyterlab.

See an example in my latest publication at doi.org/10.3390/land13071091, where the corresponding git repository under supplementary materials (doi.org/10.25532/OPARA-572) contains all code and data used to generate the figures.

#SpacePolitics
“It got funded as a #rocket to #nowhere, and we at #NASA had to figure out something to do with it,” #Garver says. Legacy contractors like #Boeing continued to receive large bonus payments 💰 for working on the #SLS, despite delays and mushrooming #costs.
Critics of the #SLS argue that the rocket is #unsustainable by #design, relying on an old and potentially quite #expensive way to get to #space. Much of SLS is a holdover from the #spaceshuttle. But while the shuttle #orbiter, #engines, and external #tanks were designed to be #reusable, SLS and its engines were not.

“They’ve designed a rocket that is basically #unsustainable, because it’s completely #throwaway. The only bit that comes back is #Orion

“Depending on how you look at it, the #SLS is either a product of a #broken #system that curries #favor to #wealthy 💰 industries or an example of representative #democracy working as it should,” technologyreview.com/2023/01/0

Everyone has reusables. The new #BYO app helps you use them.

I’m on a team turning the U.S. more reusable friendly. We asked people why they don’t use the reusables they already own and the top answer was not knowing where to use them.

BYO launched in #Tulsa and we're looking for more waste warriors to help us map reusable-friendly businesses nationwide.

Boosts welcome! The iPhone app is out now and Android is pending Google review.
