The Peter Pan of Nerdery™️<p>After a zillion emails with “hey check out this new feature!” I went back to have another look at <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/RemNote" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RemNote</span></a>. Does anyone who uses it have any thoughts for better or worse on how it stacks up to other note taking apps? It’s one of those where you can use / to create a new block type within a note, like Logseq. Sevoris<p>Now, SiYuan‘s backlinks UI lets you „step up“ the hierarchy, but now you have to "fold out" views in a way that doesn‘t have a list-wide shortcut or button to get an overview. That‘s a high friction killer. </p><p>Shame. I had seen SiYuan a bit further ahead - and I mean, in terms of database game they‘ll be up there with <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/RemNote" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RemNote</span></a> and <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/Heptabase" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Heptabase</span></a>, now, and have a lowkey parity with <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/Tana" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Tana</span></a>. That‘s not nothing. </p><p>But it feels like a little less than they should have because of one bad UI choice.</p>

It is going to be very painful waiting until I have done my "work" before I can jump into my <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/pkm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pkm</span></a> <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/tft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tft</span></a> and "take notes." In T-8 days, it's back to <span class="h-card"><a href="https://bird.makeup/users/goodnotesapp" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>goodnotesapp</span></a></span> <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/GoodNotes" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GoodNotes</span></a> 🙄 which will never be as exciting as <span class="h-card"><a href="https://a.gup.pe/u/logseq" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>logseq</span></a></span> or <span class="h-card"><a href="https://a.gup.pe/u/obsidianmd" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>obsidianmd</span></a></span> .</p>

I switched from <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/RemNote" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RemNote</span></a> to <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Logseq" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Logseq</span></a> because I was frustrated with the development pace at RemNote. Extremely slow + buggy but at that time RemNote kept touting that they had rewritten the whole codebase. Twice in the span of 8 months that I used it on and off, and I was like "Who cares???". I believed they refactored the codebase at least 1 more time after I stopped using it 2 years ago.</p><p>And now they're pulling ahead of Logseq, fast and stable.</p>
