In my #pyconAU keynote I referred to LLMs as "Regurgitative AI" rather than generative. Someone in the discord then commented that "regurgitative AI sounds like a horrific disease" and... you know... if the shoe fits...

Nice to see many of you at #pyconau ! Until next year, here's a tiny python ...
ironically, I got covid right before I was due to keynote one of the safest, most inclusive conferences I've ever seen, #PyconAU, so I had to present online to keep everyone safe. I've seen photos of everyone peacefully masking, and - guess what?? It was fine! It was safe! It's not that hard.
The day after #PyConAU and I'm nowhere near as exhausted as I expected to be, given that I basically had no weekend.
It was uplifting once I finally managed to get my meatbrain into the right space on Saturday. This is the first conference I've been to in years and I forgot how to prepare for one mentally.
It was lovely to put a half face to many of you that I've known here for ages. (I will forget them, I'm sorry, because I have prosopagnosia.)
If I didn't meet you, or you weren't able to meet me, maybe next time. I'm pretty sure there will be a next time. I went home and told my partner that I'd consider (venue withstanding) getting involved in PyCon AU in an organizational capacity, and she triumphantly declared she'd already predicted that. I feel seen.
