Is breaking the bridge to BlueSky something that only the administrators of Fediverse instances can do, or can ordinary users do it too?

What effect these tags have when you put them in bio? I saw some people have it
@atomicpoet @dansup we should be building tools to create better experiences, not griping about #noindex #nobridge and the sort. There will always be people not following the rules. If you care about privacy, don't post PII, and don't post anything you wouldn't mind falling into the hands of big tech. In the age of LLMs they will do everything they can to circumvent any protection implemented by fedi devs and they have way more resources. UX > Fedi social norms 100% of the time IMO.
because any #socialmedia with vulture capital #venturecapital behind it will eventually become #twitter
you cannot trust any social media that is not a #nonprofit
because of the governing structure
#threads is Fuckerberg, sorry #Zuckerberg #Meta
and #bluesky is cool, but all it takes is the #crypto bros and #capitalist sleaze funding it to get antsy and it is going to shit with #ads, #spying, and #political manipulation
it's not worth investing your time
On a related matter, there’s also the #Bluesky bridge to the #fediverse. I think it’s still developing, but no longer marked “work in progress.” It worked well enough for me on mastodon.social. I think it may be coincidence that it had issues around the time I migrated. But in the last week it’s also started working on the new instance.
There are some limitations. The biggest is no support for edits. There is also no support for polls, which is too bad for #HangTrek & #SarlaccPit. I’m not seeing replies or other interactions coming through from Bluesky at all, though occasionally I can see a reply there on my bridged profile. It’s imperfect, but there’s some good bits & it can help attract eyes to your content. And it will probably evolve more features like poll support.
Most of your public (not quiet public or lower visibility) posts are replicated on Bluesky if you opt in by following @bsky.brid.gy. You can block the bot at any time to undo the bridge & toggle on/off with follow/block. You can also add #nobridge to your bio to avoid being visible outside #Mastodon (including #Threads). Without bridging, you can follow Bluesky accounts on Mastodon, but your replies will not be visible. The Threads bridge is entirely one-way afaik, at least for now.
Here’s my bridged Bluesky profile. You can see when I boost another user whose account is also bridged, the boost shows up on my profile. If I boost someone who’s not bridged, the boost doesn’t show up on Bluesky. There’s a small delay (minutes), but not much.
I don't think the guppe instances are bridged to Bluesky.

So, a bot just boosted my post to BlueSky even though I specifically use the #nobridge hashtag in my profile. Guess I'll have to block them all
It's easy.
Don't be an asshole.
Respect people's consent.
As far as I know, apart from a "followersonly" or private-post setting, nothing will really woek the way you intended.
Here's a discussion of the issue, that might help:

Also, I'm not sure how effective blocking the Meta instances is at this point.
@rwg @jdp23 I appreciate this piece on consent as I try to get a grip on what I should do about invitations to bridge to bluesky. One thing I'm confused about (and hope someone can help me with) is that Bridgy Fed is referred to as "opt-in" now. Not completely, right? If I bridge to BSky and boost a toot from someone that didn't consent, isn't that toot visible on BSky by default? Or do they get some kind of consent request every time this happens? Until they add #nobridge to their profile?
Putting #NoBridge on my profile, go fuck yourself BlueSky
I want a #Fediverse feature that allows me to block all instances using a certain software.
I want this as an admin/mod for the server, but users should have that feature too.
A simple blocklist for threads, birdsite live, bridgy, mostr, etc.
Then in the admin/mod settings there should be a list of different software used by servers our instance discovered, so I can put them on the allowlist or blocklist.
@fEmber what do the "#NoArchive #NoIndex #NoSearch #NoBridge" hashtags do?
