Blacktron Renegade. I never had the original set as a kid, but I did love Blacktron. This set is a bit too big to keep intact, though, so I will at some point dismantle it and rebuild it as a fighter and custom Alienator.

In other news, I’ve finally finished building the UCS Mos Eisley Cantina that I’ve had on my shelf for 2 years-ish. But the construction doesn’t stop there: I’ve got plans to turn it into a hybrid cantina/diner by combining it with elements of the Downtown Diner. If I can match what’s in my head, it’ll look amazing.

*This post brought to you by my renewed interest in LEGO.

This weeks #Lego #FossilFriday is #Utahraptor

In 1975, Jim Jensen found fragmentary remains near Dalton Wells Quarry, Utah.

In 1991, Jim Kirkland, Robert Gaston and Donald Burge uncovered even more remains.

In 1993, Jim Kirkland named the species Utahraptor ostrommaysi after the state it was found in, and John Ostrum, who investigated Deinonychus and its relationship to birds, and Chris Mays who helped research Utahraptor.

The command variant of the EDSC's light tactical vehicle features a hardened rear section containing communications gear, and a remote weapon system with a heavy machine gun. These upgrades allow the occupants to coordinate combat maneuvers from the relative safety of their armored vehicle. #LEGO

This week for #Fossilfriday we have another #Guess that #Lego #Fossil.

This one I would rate as easy. This large representative of its family is commonly thought to be the origins of a dinosaur in Jurassic Park, even though that's impossible.

Reminder: hide your answer behind a content warning. This will allow others to guess without a hint. I will post the answer tomorrow (and to anyone who guesses correctly).

This was designed by infinitecreativity build.

Leg day. At the Lego hospital. A distinct surplus of right legs and not enough hips. Looking good for Brown Pants tho, reunited with their lost right leg.

5pm / how the day is going update:

📝 I finished and published a new article on my self-hosted Ghost blog: **"This is what resistance to the digital coup looks like" **https://news.elenarossini.com/this-is-what-resistance-to-the-digital-coup-looks-like/

🧱 I made good progress with the #LEGO castle (see pic) but ran out of light gray plates and my 4-year-old (who has impossibly high standards) demands I refrain from using other colors... so we are at a standstill (don't tell her but I already used some small black bricks in lieu of light gray ones here and there... keeping the build symmetrical but not following the instructions to a T)

Good morning Fedi friends!

In case you missed it, on Monday I was able to successfully send a newsletter from my self-hosted, manually installed #Ghost blog. So it appears to be fully working now.

I don't have any new #selfhosting anecdotes to share. I thought I would be able to relax for a bit and enjoy this milestone. I spent the day yesterday writing a blog post for #TheFutureIsFederated on the topic of resistance to the digital coup.

In the meantime, my 4-year-old spotted some vintage #LEGO panels in the attic. I identified them as belonging to LEGO's King Castle and she demanded I "BUILD IT RIGHT NOW." I'm not even sure I have all the pieces required... I remember that a couple of years ago I found stacks of old LEGO boxes and organized pieces by color in transparent drawers. I found an old manual online for the castle set and so far so good (sort of). I made it to step 10 out of 43. The real test will be building the retractable bridge.

All this to say: no more self-hosting adventures for me this week, I'll be tackling a complex LEGO project (and I can't use code to get out of hurdles...)
