Amin Girasol<p>Back at the very beginning of January I mentioned¹ I'd stumbled across Han Hogan, one half of the artist duo "Namaco" behind "Mega Dreoilín"², considered by one critic as: </p><blockquote><p>...one of the best Irish artworks of 2024 so far... incredibly engaging, brilliantly designed, sophisticated in its form and execution, and unexpectedly moving.</p></blockquote><p>"Mega Dreoilín" is still on display at the Museum of Literature Ireland³.</p><p>Han is a dynamo! She's been working with Donal on a new artwork/game/commentary:</p><blockquote><p>...a video game about the Irish economy: why we have found ourselves here and where to go next. It is a right-wing position, just a kinder, gentler capitalist philosophy (lol). And that’s why they would never fix what needs fixed. That’s why, even when the Dems were in power, they did very little to correct an unsustainable direction. Moreover, as you point out, it's actually more dangerous because it is those groups which are tasked with "policing" or at the very least providing an alternative. It takes forward the story of Katniss, played by Jennifer Lawrence, who must fight other oppressed proles to the death as part of a tyrannical government's strategy of rule through fear. </p><p>"The dystopia, called Panem, is built on the ashes of the US, and Sutherland wants young audiences to respond to the allegory. 'Hopefully they will see this film and the next film and the next film and then maybe organise.
