A Call to the Wild

Here is the image of a killdeer (Charadrius vociferus), that I saw not too long ago.

"Killdeer get their name from the shrill, wailing kill-deer call they give so often. Eighteenth-century naturalists also noticed how noisy Killdeer are, giving them names such as the Chattering Plover and the Noisy Plover." - allaboutbirds.org

You know, the photographs that I post here are not quite a vivid as the same photographs that I post at my pixel's gallery, because here, I reduce the size of the photos and usually make a slight reduction in the quality of the photos to make them easier to load.

Killdeer Meadow

This is a killdeer (Charadrius vociferus), posing on grass.

"Killdeers are surprisingly unobtrusive even on green lawns, despite their warm tawny coloration. Look carefully over lawns, short-mown fields, and even parking lots, and listen for the far-carrying kill-deer. (When you hear this call, the bird may be in flight. Look for it circling you, flying stiffly on long, pointed wings. It may resemble an American Kestrel, at least until it lands on the ground and begins walking.) Though they're often found on dry land, you should also look for them on the edges of freshwater ponds and muddy lagoons." - allaboutbirds.org

Killdeer’s Existential Crisis on Concrete

"What Sorcery Is This? The killdeer (Charadrius vociferus) gazes downward, its beady eyes wide with wonder. Beneath its delicate talons lies a vast expanse of cold, unyielding concrete. It’s as if the Earth itself decided to swap out its usual soft grass for this unforgiving gray slab. The bird contemplates the cosmic implications of such a switcheroo." - Copilot - edited

One thing that I like about purchasing prints from Pixels over some other sites that I've looked at, is at Pixels, they do custom frames and canvas stretching. I don't need to stretch my photo to fit a frame, they build the frame to the size of my photo. That's kind of awesome. Take a look, you can try different fames and other media online, just to see what they would look like, without having to purchase anything:

Orange Gaze in the Green

This is a killdeer (Charadrius vociferus) that I saw during the summer. There are quite a few around here and there, they are fascinating to watch.
