The Wild Hunt · Pagan organizations react to Pope Francis's deathBy The Wild Hunt

archive.org/details/20250406-s

Sharing the audio of a message I shared at Joy Mennonite Church this morning on the theme of surviving hopelessness during our current rotten time in history.

The scripture for the message was from Matthew 5:3, which could be translated as "Happy are the hopeless, for they will receive the Kingdom" or "Blessed are the Poor in Spirit, for they will receive the Kingdom," but most of the message focused on practical techniques for coping during our bleak times.

After being excluded from participating in an interfaith event in Glasgow cathedral, interfaith organizations declined to participate further and members of The Druid Network and the Scottish Pagan Federation held a silent protest.

The Wild Hunt · Pagan Groups excluded from Interfaith CelebrationBy Manny Moreno

"In an act of interfaith unity, the Chief #Rabbi, leading #imams and other senior #rabbis today signed the #Muslim-#Jewish Reconciliation Accords, which they presented to #KingCharles at Buckingham Palace as a symbol of their commitment to dialogue.

Prominent Muslim and Jewish figures in the #UK came together to sign the landmark agreement named The Drumlanrig Accord, which establishes a constructive framework for sustained #interfaith #solidarity amid rising tension in the UK."

Story by Ellie Silverman
10/3/2024

"Here’s what we know so far about the events planned across the region:

Oct. 5

- Beginning at 4 p.m., advocates for# Gaza will rally in front of the #WhiteHouse to mark “one year of #genocide” and “one year of #resistance” in what the #PalestinianYouthMovement is calling an #InternationalDayOfAction. There are similar protests planned in other cities, including #LosAngeles, #Montreal, #Vancouver, #Indianapolis, #Houston and #NewYork.

Oct. 6

- At 7 p.m., Temple Rodef Shalom in McLean, Va., will have a religious service of remembrance.

Oct. 7

- The Students for Justice in #Palestine group at the University of Maryland is planning to host an #interfaith vigil and educational events throughout the day to mourn people killed in Gaza during the war with #Israel.

- Beginning at 11 a.m. and running through 9 p.m. on Lafayette Square, the Hostages Families Alliance plans a vigil and prayers for the hostages still in Gaza. The group estimated on a National Park Service permit application that 1,500 people will attend.

- Beginning at noon and running until 3 p.m. near the Washington Monument, the Philos Project, a Christian group, plans a rally and march to mourn the dead, remember the hostages and support Israel. Organizers estimated on a National Park Service permit application that 1,500 people will attend.

- From 6 to 8 p.m. at Meridian Hill Park, also known as #MalcolmXPark, the Jewish group #IfNotNow will hold a memorial to mourn all the people — #Israeli and #Palestinian — who have died in the conflict. Planners estimated on a National Park Service permit application that 1,000 people will attend.

- At 7 p.m. at the Anthem, the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington is hosting an “evening of remembrance, resilience, and hope for a brighter future.”

- At 8 p.m., Hillel at U-Md. is hosting a gathering to mark the anniversary of the Hamas attacks on Israel. Jewish student leaders are also discussing their plans for Oct. 7, including whether it’s possible to hold awareness events on campus, including a display to honor the hostages still in #Hamas captivity."

Last week, I was contacted by a reporter from USA Today to talk about my job & employer. Today the article went live online. (No print version, probably there won't be, but I'm sure if there is, I'll let you know.)

An introduction for my new instance:

My main interests are written communication, teaching writing, and education, particularly as they relate to productive disagreement explored in various contexts: rhetoric, organizational & workplace communication, organizational learning, training, research, emergent strategy, coalition work, and facilitation.

* A quick guide on commonly misunderstood Islamic concepts:
learningforjustice.org/magazin

I’d encourage people to read the Quran for themselves, but be mindful of three things:
- Why Islam is called the ‘Religion of Peace’
- Like the Bible, the Quran is a (progressive) story. Statements taken out of literacy/historical context has a dramatically different meaning. (Unlike the Bible, however the Quran is very heavy reading)
- Every institutionalised religion has had ‘Golden’ and ‘Dark ages’, highlighted by the promotion or suppression of critical literacy.

Similarly if you think to learn about Judaism or Christianity, or any other religion.
And if take the time to study these religions for yourself, you will come to realise that #Interfaith isnt a modern value. And that offences against other religions, is often considered an offence in your own religion.

* to borrow Islamic wisdom, I’d describe this as the ‘greater jihad’. the internal war within ourselves and how that is then reflected in the outward struggle (the ‘lesser jihad’).

My thoughts for the family and friends of the questioned teenager.
I hope the teenager has their continued disappointment and their support.
Regardless of the charge and sentence, ... they will be central to his successful rehabilitation;
as well as the wider community.

If you take to 'The Sword' and not 'The Pen' against 'blasphemers', then it should be known that 'The Sword-bearer' is more blasphemous than the alleged blasphemer.

Until there is such a declaration and commitment is made in Australia, I guarantee that we will always remain hypervigilant towards homegrown Religion-driven violence.
#AusPol #HumanRights #ReligiousFreedom #Interfaith #Multiculturalism #DiversityAndInclusion #UniversalRights

Australia,

We genuinely needs to talk about universal human rights and freedom of religion:

... particularly the freedom to be ....' atheist, agnostic, religious, religious but institutionally sceptical, etc. etc. etc.
and this is a 'freedom from ...' discrimination, threat, harassment, abuse, violence, and being coerced into religion etc etc.

The problem with is that we have long avoided the fundamental problems being faced, and instead prioritised a very superficial interpretation of 'freedom of religion'.

I genuine political leader would publicly fund and call for a Interfaith forum to discuss the challenge of violence and its thread against freedom of religion, with the intent to reaffirm the Governments' and every religious organisations' commitment to to the UNDHR.
