Jak widzę kolejne stare niedziałające strony www lub wadliwe działające, a ich twórcy tłumaczą, że zajmują się już czymś innym i nie mają czasu, a strona wymagałaby zmiany silnika, załatania dziur bezpieczeństwa to utwierdzam się w przekonaniu.

Żadnego #Wordpress. Żadnego #Ghost. Tylko strony statyczne w ramach działalności hobbystycznej czy pro publico bono. Tak, aby działały po latach w tym także jak mnie nagle lub nienagle zabraknie, lub nie będę miał środków, zasobów, sił, chęci itp.

To samo polecam innym.

Ps. Ewentualnie newslettery, komentarze na stornie, konta fediwersowe i inne tego typu szmery-bajery lepiej załatwiać osobno czy to u siebie w subdomenie, czy to u zewnętrznego usługodawcy. Jak znikną, twórca przestanie publikować, zaczną źle działać niezadbane, to nic nie szkodzi dla strony, bo strona statyczna dla archiwum zostanie i będzie działała. O ile ktoś oczywiście opłaci hosting i domeną. Ale o to ostatnie łatwiej zadbać.

What Ghost is doing at the moment is basically what I had been hoping to find on the Fediverse for quite a while now.

You know Ghost for their blogs/newsletters. Do you know that now, the blogs are connected to the Fediverse, a little bit like Wordpress does with the ActivityPub plugin, or what WriteFreely and MicroBlog also do?

Now, add to this a micro-blogging platform similar to Mastodon and the others (Sharkey, Akkoma, etc) except that both the regular blog and the micro-blogging are under the same account.


The micro-blogging platform is still in beta and lacks a bunch of features, but new are added every week. And when all is said and done, it could simply become one of my main Fediverse accounts (i.e. I could migrate this account there, although right now, it's not playing too too well with Firefish).

🏕️ my adventures in #selfhosting - day 126 (good luck charm edition) 🍀​

Good morning Fedi friends!

Yesterday I flew back to Paris and I’m spending the week at my in-laws' with my extended family… my little one still has one more week of school holidays. Working is a little difficult with so many people around (especially children) but I have a lofty goal for today: upgrading my VPS and installing #PeerTube.

The 22nd of the month has been my good luck charm in my self-hosting adventures. I installed #GoToSocial (this account) via #YunoHost on December 22nd, 2024. I successfully installed #Ghost on my Ubuntu VPS with command lines on February 22, 2025. Because of that, I will be saving 30€/month…

So in the spirit of #FOSS exploration, I find it fitting to upgrade my VPS today on April 22… and - my oh my! - install PeerTube via YunoHost… so that I can self-host my upcoming videos about the Fediverse.

The children are playing in the garden and I have about 30 minutes to do all that. Wish me luck!
