This is some bs. If AOSP development is made less publicly accessible it does NOT " simplify things for developers" but rather it hinders it for de-googled privacy respecting ROMs and their device ports. The need for continued and ramped up efforts developing alternative mobile OS's, like Ubuntu Touch, Sailfish OS, Droidian, Mobian, Postmarket, etc. is even more apparent with this move by Google.

It's very convenient at times, despite being one of the most intrusive tracking. I mean, it's literally tracking.
My #HomeAssistant instance already tracks me and my wife, I need a place to store our location history.
I'll be testing #eOS #degoogled #android for the next few days/weeks.
Installation on a Nothing CMF Phone went ok-ish, but could definitely be improved, at least in terms of better documentation.

Ich habe ein #degoogled Android mit #grapheneos und ohne Play Services. Darauf konnte ich mit UP und Mollysocket (Airgapped) den Akkuverbrauch von Molly auf einen Bruchteil (< 1%) verringern.

But I thought installing de-googled android was beyond me but now I see you can buy a de-googled Samsung A5 for £93 (UK) so I'm giving it a go. It won't run apps requiring GPS but so long as I have Firefox, Signal, Mastodon, Bluesky I will be ok. I might put a cheap sim in my old phone in case I need map

jedyna zmiana dotyczy Masto. olałem Tusky'ego na rzecz powrotu do FediLab..podstawowe aplikacje u mnie: Firefox, Feeder, Monocles, AntennaPod, SchildiChat, Transistor, InnerTune, Tmux..
używka Galaxy S9 Plus wraz z /e/OS na pokładzie - super rozwiązanie!
totalnie zdegooglowany system z dodatkowymi ustawieniami bezpieczeństwa i prywatności oraz z wyłącznikami kamery i mikrofonu.
/e/OS działa płynnie i bez żadnych kwasów - jestem mega zadowolony i polecam wszystkim wypróbowanie /e/OS-a!

Are there #FOSS alternatives for #Android #fitness #Apps such as #Wahoo and #Garmin #Watches and #Bike Computers? Or has anyone had success running such apps on #DeGoogled Android OSs? I own a #PinePhone, but the #banking and #fitness apps are still incompatible. They are show-stoppers. Maybe @cyberlyra or @foss_android have an idea on #FOSS solutions?

I removed/disabled most #google apps from my phone (apart from #wallet) and I was surprised that #degoogled #android is not only useful, but actually feels much healthier and calmer than the bloated stock version that came preinstalled on my phone.
But deleting #google accounts entirely is another thing. Anyone succeeded? I'm looking for advices :)

Partially #degoogled my phone while flying back from holidays today: installed @fdroidorg and a set of #Fossify apps replacing mant stock ones. Secondly, I replaced the stock launcher with fossify one - it's basic but I don't need anything more!
Thirdly, I looked for alternatives to all apps from #googlePlay in #fdroid.
Finally all unnecessary apps were disabled or hidden (some can't be removed) resulting in a single page of apps.
I hope hiding some apps will improve my #digitalWellbeing .
