The result overall has been called an extraordinary #threat to #constitutional rights of #DueProcess & #legal representation & a far weaker effort to challenge Trump’s actions in court than during his first term.

Fraenkel offered a simple, yet powerful, picture of how the #constitutional & #legal foundations of the Weimar Republic eroded, & were replaced by #strongman-style rule in which the commands of the #Nazi Party & its leader became paramount. His perspective was not grounded in abstract political theory; it grew instead from his experience as a Jewish lawyer in Nazi Berlin representing #dissidents & other disfavored clients.

@alissaazar When defending yourself from kidnapping and assault, you are allowed to use deadly force.
It is her #Constitutional right to redress grievances to the government. No one has the right to zip tie, lift out of her seat or remove her. These men should all go to jail for assault and attempted kidnapping.

The incoming ofcl did not provide details on how the admin planned to implement a change that #Constitutional scholars say would be #illegal. #Trump’s order would reinterpret the words “and subject to the jurisdiction thereof” in the#14thAmendment of the US #Constitution, which grants citizenship to all people born on US soil, & redefine the phrase to exclude babies born to parents illegally in the country.
