I love this frame which visually embodies the concepts of "mujo" (無常) and "mono no aware" (物の哀れ).
"Mujo" is Buddhist concept of impermanence and "mono no aware" is finding beauty in life due to this impermanence.
I penned the following haiku in Japanese and English inspired by this frame.
花が咲く
いつも儚い
命かな
Cherry blossoms bloom
Always so ephemeral
Alas, such is life
A close up of another bulbul, this time in a blooming magnolia tree in a neighborhood nearby Jamsil

A brown-eared bulbul, one of my favorite local birds right now, is picking away at the flowers in its favorite tree near Seokchon lake
Seoul, April
The lake is also adjacent to Lotte Tower, one of the tallest buildings in Asia and the tallest in Korea, seen here through the cherry blossoms
The circuit winds around Seokchon lake, where many of the cherry trees and willows extend out over the water.
Seoul, April
Back in Korea, the cherry trees are blooming around Seoul. Up by Olympic Park, at Seokchon lake, there's an easy circuit that folks can walk around and see some nice blooms. A bit of overcast sky in the morning kept it less crowded than in years past.
