Ein faszinierender Anblick: Der Milan thront majestätisch auf einem Ast, den Blick wachsam über sein Revier gerichtet. Als eleganter Segelflieger mit gegabeltem Schwanz ist er in der Luft kaum zu übersehen. Besonders beeindruckend ist sein wendiger Flugstil, mit dem er sich mühelos über Seen und Flüsse bewegt – immer auf der Suche nach Beute oder Aas. Ein echtes Highlight für alle, die gern mit der Kamera unterwegs sind.

Hunter in the Air

Every year for Thanksgiving, we head east to Georgia, usually stopping midway. For the past couple of years, we’ve stayed at a hotel on the beach in Gulfport, Mississippi. The area is often teeming with various bird species. I spotted this osprey (Pandion haliaetus) there a couple of years ago. Watching them dive into the water and emerge with a fish is truly fascinating. I’ve witnessed it a few times, but I’ve never been close enough to capture a clear, detailed image.

Sometimes (all the time actually) you have to be lucky. Last summer, I was filming the mist rising over the forest at sunset in Cacao, French Guiana and my drone was begging me to come back because it had no more battery. It was when I brought it home that I noticed this bird of prey on its tree facing the sunset. Just enough time to gently take its portrait. Lucky, I tell you !

Majestic, Red-Shouldered Hawk

This is an image I've had for a while. The red-shouldered hawk (Buteo lineatus) was perched in an oak tree inside my backyard fence. I'm sure the bird was hoping for some easy prey like a songbird or squirrel visiting a bird feeder.
