I didn't bother visiting the new Beograd Centar station as it's so inaccessible. However I arrived early at the bus station and this time I found where the Novi Beograd station was (hidden behind the highway bridges).

Where to start? 5 tracks with 6 platforms but only 2 in use with a train every 15 minutes maybe? Elevators that don't work. Entrance gates that gate nothing. Bench not bolted properly. At least the platforms are on level for boarding (the modern trains).

Let's talk about #urbanism and #mobility in #Belgrade, starting with public transport. You guessed it from the previous toots, the tram infrastructure is falling apart, although a few (less than 5% ?) of the trams use a new model. Tram colors are all very patriotic though! 🇷🇸

Buses seemed modern although I didn't get to try them. And bus lanes do exist sometimes.

New tram: 5 segments, 6 doors. Red with white and blue linings.
2x2 lane street at night, 1 in each direction being a bus/taxi lane.

The arrival in #Belgrade is a bit brutal. There are no large-scale protests this week-end, but not much information as the new bus station is out of town and still under construction according to Google Maps and satellite views.

I find a tram stop, but all trams seem to go the other direction, and some passengers leave saying (in English) there are no more trams. I wait a bit more, and eventually enter the first tram 10 minutes later.

Meanwhile, #Serbia is moving along after the most massive #protest ever in #Belgrade last Saturday.
Price of #eggs is not a problem, so there's an informal social movement of targeting regime's most prominent people in local communities with eggs.
It started about a month ago in the town of Kraljevo where the mayor and his people cannot show up in the streets without being thrown eggs at for over a month.
Yesterday in #Niš, a synchronized action of egg throwing targeted various prominent local regime people. This is how the director of the public hospital looked like last night.

On Saturday, a mysterious weapon caused panic and the end of the big demonstration in #Belgrade. The Serbian government now admits to possessing LRAD sound weapons. There are indications of a coordinated attack on the demonstration and another weapon system. A search for clues. (in German) #Serbia

Authorities have faced near-daily protests since last November when a Renovated station roof collapsed killing 15 people in #NoviSad, Serbia's second city.
Students, teachers and other workers blamed rampant government corruption and negligence for the disaster.
They are also demanding release of documents about the disaster and accountability for those responsible.
