British envoy to the #US #PeterMandelson then offered #Trump a special price for a #RollsRoyce:

"Mr. President, I wonder whether you'd like to buy…I would be happy to suggest a discount. Obviously, a very modest discount," he said.

Trump resonded: "You know, the last time that happened, I ended up buying a Tesla," referring to his #promotion of #ElonMusk's car on the WH lawn.

After I posted the Ford T-Bird version of FAB 1 from the 2004 Thunderbirds film, several people mentioned the Rolls-Royce original from the 1960s TV series. In 1978, when CAR magazine published advance unofficial details of the yet-to-be-launched RR Silver Spirit, the cover art featured the new car in Lady Penelope pink, a visual gag that will have resonated immediately with British readers of a certain age at the time.
