The smear campaign the #Trump regime is mounting against #kilmarabregogarcia reminds me of what right-wingers did to Trayvon Martin:“He was caught w/marijuana at school so he must have deserved what he got”

Or Micheal Brown stole cigarillos so he deserved to die

Or Breonna Taylor 1ce dated a bad guy so she brought this on herself

If you’re a person of color you must live a perfect life or you’re deserving of State sponsored violence

But a white rapist can be President

Gayle King is quick in defending her space trip.
She doesn't seem to be as eloquent when it comes to Black female scientists being fired by the Trump administration, supported by Bezos.

She refuses to see she's just the token Black woman used to justify billionaires' support of racist and misogynistic policies but we're not blind.

A piece of knowledge many white non-immigrant English-speaking folks may need to absorb and internalize in this moment:

These government police forces acting brutally towards immigrants? They were always like that.

ICE and other policing forces in this country are fundamentally corrupt. In fact, the entire systems of "policing" and "border control" in America have racist and xenophobic origins.

If our country survives this coup attempt with democracy intact, these systems will need to be left behind or rebuilt from the ground up with a new vision. Otherwise we will be trading overt fascism for fascism lite.

Today in Labor History April 16, 1994: Ralph Ellison died on this day. Ellison was a member of the Harlem Renaissance, best known for his book, The Invisible Man. He was friends with Langston Hughes and Richard Wright. He became active in the Communist Party, as did many of his peers. But he became disillusioned with them during World War II when he felt they became reformist. He wrote The Invisible Man during this era (published in 1952), in part, as a response their betrayal. But the book also looks at the relationship between black identity and Marxism, the reformism of Booker T. Washington, and issues of individuality and personal identity.

Have you ever witnessed racism in Germany?

I'm interested in hearing from Germans who have personally witnessed acts of racism in everyday life - especially when it involved friends, family members, or people close to them.

If you're comfortable sharing, could you describe the situation? Who was involved, and how did it make you feel? Did you respond in any way?

I'm not here to judge, just to understand how racism can show up in familiar environments and how people perceive and deal with it.

I've also questioned this on Reddit in the group Ask a German. The post has generated more than 500 comments and has more than 135k views so far. Surprisingly (or not😉), it has had a really low upvote rate of 55%.

"British anti-Islam activist Stephen Yaxley-Lennon (AKA 'Tommy Robinson') on Wednesday lost his appeal against his 18-month sentence after he previously admitted contempt of court for repeating false allegations against a Syrian refugee."

"Yaxley-Lennon said in January that Elon #Musk was paying some of his legal fees."

Someone not previously known to me PMd me with the helpful suggestion, which i share here now for other Greens voters, of adopting this new hashtag #IncludeAdam as a protest that political commentators, journos, & especially also the bloody ABC, continue propagating the myth of 2PP, eg, the last & next "leaders debate" only including the pathetic Libs & Labs, ignoring the approaching parity of non-"majors" support. I reckon this is a fine idea!

So, the Police in the US is well known for its racism and corruption.
The military is home to far-right extremists.

Just thinking out loud but I'm pretty sure that when the armed branch of a society supports the policy of a fascist president it doesn't end well for democracy.
And people.

"DOJ ends a key racial discrimination case, signaling an end to the Civil Rights Division as it existed.

The lawsuit against the Mississippi state Senate alleged a brazen pattern of racial discrimination against a Black woman, but AAG Harmeet Dhillon ended the case."

The Black Consumer Advisory: Leveraging Our Dollars For Change

"In the wake of nationwide protests against systemic #racism in 2020, many corporations and institutions publicly committed to being more diverse, equitable, and inclusive. Five years later and some are starting to backtrack without ever meeting promises made. As businesses reverse their commitments, it is time to hold them accountable."
