She doesn't seem to be as eloquent when it comes to Black female scientists being fired by the Trump administration, supported by Bezos.
She refuses to see she's just the token Black woman used to justify billionaires' support of racist and misogynistic policies but we're not blind.
A piece of knowledge many white non-immigrant English-speaking folks may need to absorb and internalize in this moment:
These government police forces acting brutally towards immigrants? They were always like that.
ICE and other policing forces in this country are fundamentally corrupt. In fact, the entire systems of "policing" and "border control" in America have racist and xenophobic origins.
If our country survives this coup attempt with democracy intact, these systems will need to be left behind or rebuilt from the ground up with a new vision. Otherwise we will be trading overt fascism for fascism lite.

Today in Labor History April 16, 1994: Ralph Ellison died on this day. Ellison was a member of the Harlem Renaissance, best known for his book, The Invisible Man. He was friends with Langston Hughes and Richard Wright. He became active in the Communist Party, as did many of his peers. But he became disillusioned with them during World War II when he felt they became reformist. He wrote The Invisible Man during this era (published in 1952), in part, as a response their betrayal. But the book also looks at the relationship between black identity and Marxism, the reformism of Booker T. Washington, and issues of individuality and personal identity.
