The baby pineapple continues to grow! It takes about six months for the fruit to mature, so we'll get to eat this one in June or July.

Today we went to SpongeBob's house! Okay, it's not really SpongeBob's house, but it is a house shaped like a giant pineapple. How cool is that!

Pineapple update: the baby pineapple continues to grow and is looking more like an actual pineapple, day by day. Watching it grow just delights me! But it's also a lesson in patience, since a pineapple fruit takes six months to mature.

One of my all-time favorite pieces of jewelry is this oyster shell necklace that I painted, applied gold foil to, and varnished. I even drilled the hole myself. It is a pineapple. I get so many compliments on it as well.

The baby pineapple is looking more pineapple-like by the day! Technically it's just a bloom at this point - a very bristly bloom! It will soon be covered in purple petals, and then it will be on its way to being a delicious fruit.

I have a total of three pineapple plants that I've grown from pineapple tops. This is the second one. The first one fruited last year, and I grew a third plant from the top of its fruit. I grew the first two plants from the tops of store-bought pineapples. They're surprisingly easy to grow, though they're tender, so they have to spend the winter in the house.

Pineapple plant #2 is fruiting! I'm so excited! It will be a long wait to taste the delicious homegrown organic pineapple... it takes about six months for the fruit to fully form. I started a new pineapple plant from the fruit that pineapple plant #1 made, and I'll do the same with this one.
