Around 1989/1990, a lot of Nirvana’s peers could do what they did in most respects.
There were a lot of bands who had their “Floyd The Barber” or “Sifting”.

There weren’t too many who could write songs like “About A Girl”. That’s where Kurt always separated himself from everybody else. His insane knack for melody & Beatles-esque catchiness.
Kurt was a stone-cold killer of a songwriter.

Bleach is such an incredible album for the $600 something dollars they spent on it.
It shouldn’t have been such a surprise that they ended up dominating the world for 3 years.
Anybody who heard Bleach in real time in ‘89 should have easily seen it coming.
About A Girl, School, Love Buzz, Floyd The Barber, Negative Creep…
Just one slayer after another.

Tony Hawk says his grandson 'Ronin' knows that grandpa's house is the 'fun' house. That's his grandson who is the son of his son and Frances Bean Cobain. The same Bean Kurt used to carry around everywhere like a proud papa back in the 90s.

Just as an extra thought off my last post:
I get emotional when I listen to that record.
My son, the same age NOW as I was THEN, came in & saw that I was a little emotional & had tears in my eyes.

“You ok, Dad?”

“Yeah son, I’m ok. This album just takes me somewhere… else.”

“You really miss him still, huh?”

“I do son.”

“I get it, Dad. Just be glad you had him. I’m still searching for MY Kurt. We have NOBODY. You could have had dickheads like Drake or worse… Post Malone.”

But as he foresaw, Nirvana’s label, Geffen, interfered, insisting the record be remixed to soften Albini’s recordings. A compromise was eventually struck: the singles Heart-Shaped Box and All Apologies were smoothed out into more commercially friendly songs, while the rest of Albini’s work remained as is."

A parody of #Nirvana's song "#SmellsLikeTeenSpirit", it was released as the #leadSingle from Yankovic's #OffTheDeepEnd album in April 1992. "Smells Like Nirvana" was written during a three-year career low for Yankovic after the financial failure of his film #UHF, but captured the quickly-rising popularity of #grunge and Nirvana's success.
