The people editing the trailers for Marvel's "Thunderbolts*" are really doing an excellent job, _especially_ with the short social media ones.

For example, look at this one. I was watching it on my phone, in portrait, full screen, and I started smiling in appreciation at the start, when the picture flips but the logo is upright and the motorcycle looks almost correct, in a strange way. This is perfection.

I've never been a huge Fantastic Four fan growing up, but I'm so excited for this movie. Even just its unique look is already a win.

(the only thing I find weird is Silver Surfer - not because she's a woman, but because she has "hair" and they seemed glued on her or something)

Daredevil: Born Again was released in March this year. So it must have been written by the time production was halted by the writer's strike in 2023. Given that, it's disturbingly prescient, modelling at city scale roughly what Orange Stalin's administration are doing in federal government level.

It's as good as the Netflix series IMHO.

"She can't understand how she got here — how her father's wealth and fame and creative energy have eluded her."

The Marvel Superheros RPG I used to love playing in the 1990s used a Karma system. It was the 1980s "MSHRPG" made by TSR. Very complex and quite good system, honestly, although I'm not a gaming expert by any means: neither video, nor board games, nor #ttrpgs.

If you were a good guy, doing good things would increase your karma. Doing bad things would decrease or even wipe out your karma.

If you were a bad guy, doing bad things would increase your karma.

There were many times that the heroes would attempt to neutralize a foe but go just a little too far, leading to the villain dying. That would zero out the hero's karma, a phenomenon we liked to call the "Karma Toilet." IIRC, one of us would actually play a .wav file of a toilet flushing when it happened, or walk to the nearest bathroom and flush a toilet, or something.

Man, the 90s were fun. I really miss constructive boredom and community.

I love Las Vegas's Fremont Street in the morning. Under it all, it's a working class town, just regular people trying to get by. Here fake Spider-man and Buzz Lightyear chat as they walk to work, another day standing in the heat, inside a painted circle on the ground, hustling tourist dollars to pose for pictures. It's a living.
It's easy to make fun, but I feel for these folks.
