Szkoda bo fajnie się zapowiadało.
Używanie może być ryzykowne. Mogą w jakiś sposób uzbroić tą aplikację w przyszłości w jednym z update.

Polecicie coś godnego uwagi na #iOS ?
Kojarzę #Mapycz przemianowane na #Mapycom (są też na #Android), teraz płatne za niektóre funkcje typu mapy offline ale może warto wesprzeć naszych południowych sąsiadów?
46 PLN / rok nie wydaje się dużo za ich Premium.

#Mapycz (now #Mapycom) from #Seznam use #OpenStreetMap everywhere except their home country - Czech Republic, where they have their own proprietary maps.
There have been rumours in the #OSM community that they actually copy from OSM. Today I found proof that they really do.
I mapped a new park in #Brno just by surveying and taking notes last year. Later the park showed up on Mapy.com with exactly the same path layout. The new orthophoto is out and it revealed that I didn't get everything right and Seznam got it wrong too. Exactly the same mistakes.

Not cool, Seznam.

Mapy.cz wird zu Mapy.com
Demnächst möchte man wohl auch Stau-Umfahrung in Deutschland anbieten.
Interessant ist die App allemal, da auch Bewertungen abgegeben und Fotos hochgeladen werden können, welche für alle einsehbar sind.
Die App ist leider nur aus dem PlayStore zu installieren.

I hate big shopping malls. That's why I always need to find the best way to the business and back. #Mapycz and #GoogleMaps are useless for that. POIs are missing, wrongly placed or grouped in the middle of the mall.

But some shopping malls in #Brno are so well mapped in #OpenStreetMap that it can navigate me right to the business. And that even includes changing floors and using escalators. 👍

So I started looking for an alternative. I've got only a few quite simple use cases: 1) car navigation (abroad included); 2) tourist paths; 3) route tracking. As the problem is only connected with Android Auto, I could limit my search to item one. What apps did I try? I started with #OrganicMaps, and I really love its simplicity and straightforward approach. But there is no traffic data abroad (well, the same for #MapyCZ), and a different bug affecting Android Auto: github.com/organicmaps/organic.

There was a lot of things said about #MapyCZ and their paid premium version. At the end, I think the subscription price of 5 beers a year is quite fair. Also, the recent announcement regarding contribution to #OpenStreetMap (while using their map data abroad) by #Seznam sounds also fair. Actually, completely different things worry me: BUGS! Mapy.cz on Android Auto hits napoveda.seznam.cz/forum/threa (in short, sudden loss of voice instructions) during recent months, which is extremely annoying.

If you're planning a trip to the nature, please stop using Google Maps. Their outdoor maps are lacking at best and actively deceiving in cases where it might play a role. Navigation in high stakes areas can get dangerous really quickly.

What's the alternative? For basic use I always recommend mapy.cz (Yay, Czech product). It takes the map sources from the Open Street Maps project and does _by far_ the best job in rendering them to be understandable.

Offline maps, navigation, POIs, winter maps, earial maps, route planning, elevation profile, modes of transport, ...

Google view on Interlaken. A lot of the space is covered with "extras" like buttons for quick search, weather, actual info... Even quick glimpse over the map itself shows that there is not really any emphasis on making the map useful outdoors.
mapy.cz view of interlaken. You can clearly see all the highways, main streets, names of mountains including the altitude of the highest peaks, all the hiking paths including terrain severity marking, biking routes, gondolas, funiculars, and even(!) routes for boats.

Just last week, I replaced the embed #mapycz map on a website that I manage for a friend (after all the things that happend with paied #Seznamcz without targeted ads) with embed OSM map.

This app looks even better and has a nice outdoor layer. Does anyone know if there is a way to embed it? I didn't find it.
