#ipv6

So I tried out technetium on recommendation . Despite my better judgement of having to schlep in the dotnet sdk on my openwrt build. Only to discover that it doesn't implement IPV6 Dhcp at all and also doesn't allow chaining to an existing dhcpv6 server... Still boggles my mind how a project can get positive reviews and miss something so integral as v6 in this day and age #ipv6 #openwrt github.com/TechnitiumSoftware/

The usage of IPv6 is increasing and many ISP now provide IPv6 to their customers so it would be useful also to have support for DHCPv6

I'm the victim, victim of such an ISP an ISP which wants to charge me an arm, a, leg and my little cousin, for a simple, one simple IPv6 address. There's a whole section of the internet that I can't see simply because my ISP lives in the Anals of Utter Darkness

And on the Top of that for this mediocre speed which is delivered on an obsolete xDSL router they want this amount of money USD 40

#ISP#IPv6#Address

ISP has a /32 of #IPv6 space.

So, naturally, they fear running out of addresses and use /127s out of fc00::/7 for public facing PTP links, because apparently, 4.29 billion /64s wasn't enough space.

Seriously, people _suck_ at thinking about big numbers.

My relay instance for the #Fediverse evolved in a great way - more than 120 instances are already connected to boost your posts across the Fediverse.

If you're running #snac / #snac2, #Mastodon, #Pleroma or any other software on the #ActivityPub protocol that supports relay instances - feel free to join the relay! Hopefully #GoToSocial also supports relay services soon! Of course #IPv6 is supported (for IPV6 only instances).

"Swisscom’s mobile services deliver reliable and highly
secure coverage in Switzerland and internationally.
Among the two primary mobile services, voice and data,
Voice over LTE (VoLTE) already utilises IPv6. With the
introduction of a Dual Mode 5G Mobile Core in 2025,
we are laying the foundation to ensure that in 2026,
Swisscom’s entire mobile offerings will be either
IPv6-only or at least IPv6-first."

Why do so many object storage provider just not have #IPv6 ?

I wanted to test out a new one, setup a bucket, UI looked cool, first impressions good and then there is no AAAA record?

So often all other services a provider has support v6, but object storage? Naaaah :neocat_sad:

merge freebsd traceroute6 into traceroute, take 4: failed.

i think to get this done, i need to initially propose a change to do it in a bad way, then make it not bad in followup commits, instead of just committing the not-bad version to begin with.

which i find a little frustrating, but let it never be said that i won't commit bad code in the name of pragmatism.
