Peter J Fullagar 🌈<p>Inspired by the 'what people think teachers do' post, I've made one of my own.<br>Note: of course, LGBTQIA+ inclusive materials do more than just those 10 things ...</p><p><a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/Education" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Education</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/RepresentationMatters" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RepresentationMatters</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/LGBTQIA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LGBTQIA</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/ELT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ELT</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/ESOL" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ESOL</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/IAmNotATaboo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>IAmNotATaboo</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/DEI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DEI</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/Inclusion" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Inclusion</span></a></p>
Peter J Fullagar 🌈<p>Wow.</p><p>A huge, huge thank you to Romina Muse and IATEFL YLTSIG for the review of Existence in their TEYLT Worldwide Issue 1, 2025. I'm absolutely blown away by the review. Below is just a small section of the review, but in all honesty, any part of it would've been just as appropriate.</p><p>I'd thoroughly suggest getting hold of a copy, not just for the review of Existence, but also for the amazing review of Harry Waters book by Teresa Bestwick.</p><p>If, as Romina suggests, you'd like to purchase Existence, digital copies are available from my website, or physical copies can be bought from The Bournemouth English Book Centre (BEBC), online or at the IATEFL conference (where you can also buy Harry's book!).</p><p>I've also got an open letter to the ELT industry, which you can read here: <a href="https://openletter.earth/an-open-letter-to-the-english-language-teaching-industry-25a94707" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">openletter.earth/an-open-lette</span><span class="invisible">r-to-the-english-language-teaching-industry-25a94707</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/ELT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ELT</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/LGBTQIA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LGBTQIA</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/Inclusion" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Inclusion</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/IAmNotATaboo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>IAmNotATaboo</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/DEI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DEI</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/TEFL" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TEFL</span></a></p>
I Am Not A Taboo! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️<p>ELT is not representative of all identities.</p><p>LGBTQIA+ identities are human identities, along with race, ethnicity, disability, neurodiversity, Global South, and more, many of which intersect.</p><p>Without allies and people coming together to collectively speak up, there will be no change. Individuals working on their own may make a big noise, but are very unlikely to make an impact when it comes to inclusion.</p><p>The open letter is just one way to show solidarity, so here's what you can do:<br>- sign the letter (and don't forget to verify your email)<br>- share the letter, particularly in ELT/ESOL/EFL circles and groups (I'm no longer on Facebook or Instagram, so can't share there directly)<br>- if you have a newsletter, or mailing list, I'd be most grateful if you'd share the link there<br>- if you'd like me (Peter) to write something for a blog, a newsletter or an online (or print) publication, get in contact at admin@iamnotataboo.com </p><p><a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/IAmNotATaboo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>IAmNotATaboo</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/Inclusion" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Inclusion</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/LGBTQIA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LGBTQIA</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/ELT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ELT</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/ESOL" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ESOL</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/ESL" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ESL</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/TEFL" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TEFL</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/DEIB" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DEIB</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/DEI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DEI</span></a></p><p><a href="https://openletter.earth/an-open-letter-to-the-english-language-teaching-industry-25a94707" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">openletter.earth/an-open-lette</span><span class="invisible">r-to-the-english-language-teaching-industry-25a94707</span></a></p>
