Today I’d like to introduce my first full electric flight with a #Diamond Aircraft #eDA40 in #msfs2020.

Based in #Detmold, Germany I first did some traffic patterns for testing. The plane has a 80 kWh battery for 74 minutes of flying. Two traffic patterns took around 20 % of battery including going going around.

After recharging I did a local flight of around one hour over #Lemgo, #BadSalzuflen, #Herford and #Lübbecke and back to Detmold. A quite strange experience was the standing propeller on the runway short before taking off. eDA40 does also recuperate, but I haven’t seen any charge of the battery. Maybe depleating is delayed.

You will see more flight with it if you want. Just tell me. See you soon.

I reached today a FM repeater (OH3RAA) 70km away on 2m with 10W and vertical antenna (Diamond X-30). Had lovely QSOs with totally new HAMs.

I'm still amazed how long 10W can reach on 2m band. Shame that it is very unused these days.

The center aims to reinforce and future-proof the Netherlands' #DiamondOA #publishing landscape.
It serves as a knowledge hub connecting #researchers, publishers, #librarians, #policymakers, and #funders.

🤩 We're excited to be a partner with our University of Groningen Press.

Well, there are two upsides to this: a nice building has been preserved and one has another nice photo spot.

That said, I still have mixed feelings to what the city of #Antwerp did with the #Havenhuis. To quote someone whom I showed my photos: "It is as if a giant extra-terrestrial ship has landed and laid a giant egg..."

The Havenhuis is a former #firestation that was used until the late nineties for the #harbour of Antwerp nearby. The lower section is a replica of a former Hanseatic house (neo-traditional style) and got protected status. Since it could not be demolished, Port of Antwerp decided to write out a competition to which an Iraqi-British architect, Zaha Hadid, won. On top of the building came an upper section in concrete and glass in the form of a ship (reference to the harbour) with the glass in #diamond sections (reference to Antwerp as a major diamond trading city.)

We see #diamond #OpenAccess as a sustainable and fair model for #ScholarlyPublishing.

#DiamondOA initiatives are usually non-profit, run by and for academics.

These initiatives rely on external funding to remain operational, with funds mostly coming from university #libraries, academic institutions, #research funders or government grants.

We support various diamond open access infrastructures and initiatives.

It's international #OAweek again, with the same theme as last year: #Community over Commercialization.

Read the interview with our experts on diamond open access about how our #library supports community-driven #publishing:

“Diamond open access embodies the true and original spirit of the open access movement: to make the scholarly publishing industry more accessible, but also more affordable and #fair for everyone.”

#UNESCO is seeking your input through this survey as part of the global consultation process on #Diamond #OpenAccess, with the aim of shaping a collaborative framework for Diamond OA worldwide.

The results will be shared at the 2nd Global Summit on Diamond Open Access in Cape Town in December 2024, laying the groundwork for further discussions and potential regional consultations.

The survey is available in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
