One of the interesting things about Parramatta is you can randomly find some of the oldest European colonial buildings in Australia standing alongside some of the newest. A good example is Brislington House, built in 1819, which stands on a street corner in the middle of Parra's legal precinct. #architecture #buildings

Main door to the former Printing Works on Darnley Street in Pollokshields, Glasgow. Designed by D.B. Dobson and built in 1902, the snake-headed hinges at the bottom of the door are a particularly nice touch.

'In laboratory experiments, the scientists found that the cooling rate of their elephant skin-inspired mycelium tile was 25 per cent better than a fully flat mycelium tile, and the heating rate was 2 per cent lower.
They also found that the elephant skin-inspired tile’s cooling effect improved a further 70 per cent in simulated rain conditions, making it suitable for tropical climates.'

Jacques Tati’s “Playtime” is a playful visual treatise on modernity portraying the innate incompatibility between human nature and the Modernist expectations of behavior in space. Almost completely devoid of dialogue, shot on a massive set located near Paris known as Tativille, the film dissects Modernist architecture through one of its epitomes: the office building.
