I have successfully finished the first leg of this year's Easter Tour. Within 6 days, I bicycled almost 500 km from Berlin to Nuremberg, Germany. Yesterday, I took the help of trains, though. Now I am on a train to Munich, and then on to Austria. I am very grateful to all the people I have met along this trip. This world is a lot better place than what one can read in the news.
I grew up in a small village, and our neighbour had the only cherry tree in the village. My parents made sure that we kids did not jump over the fence and steal some cherries in early summer. Thus, cherries became the forbidden fruit in my childhood paradise. Later in my life, cherry trees always attracted me more than any other plant. Today, I was treated with quite a few in Franconia, Germany.

One does not need much when touring with a bicycle. A piece of bread, an apple, some water, and for real luxury a bit of sunshine. I am currently in Thüringen, Germany.
I hate the word “plan”, but the rough direction of chaos is getting as close to Trier as I can before I get too Triered to push pedals. Then I hunt out some Apfelwein.
I never book a hotel early, because who knows if I’ll have a strong day or casual day. Loads of stuff around anyway. #bikepacking
7 am: The lady at the bakery gave me a big smile and wished me good luck for the ride. Then I was treated with the most exquisite bicycle road I could wish for. I saw plenty of chirping birds, bees and bumblebees humming in alto and bass, saw my first butterflies of the year, heard woodpeckers knocking hard, and chased plenty of deer. Now I have lunch in Lutherstadt Wittenberg, Germany. It is a perfect pre-Easter day.

Travelling by train from Stockholm to Berlin. Right now: Lunch and sightseeing in one of the bicycle capitals of the world, Copenhagen. As usual, I had to get a photo at Nyhavn. Weather is sunny and cold. But I am hoping to experience warmer temperatures in the coming days on my Easter Tour 2025 towards Austria.
