Before and after images of the #IITPatna campus on #OpenStreetMap. The data was added by @ravi @contrapunctus and @rahulporuri during the #BiharFOSS conference by

On the train ride back from Patna (#BiharFOSS), @ravi and I sardonically thanked Trump for the state of things in the US, which may have been why #GitHub disabled the #OrganicMaps repo and forced them to move to #FreedomRespecting #Forgejo.
"This will hopefully teach people why it's important to boycott #proprietary platforms. But why do people always wait around for such things to pass? #FreeSoftware activists had been warning them for like 10 years!" (Also...Sourceforge???)
I initially didn't plan on using slides at all, but then prepared these between 3-4 AM the night before the conference by going on a hasty hack-and-slash through slides from previous talks

Really need to get into the habit of asking people if they need certain information.
e.g. "Is anyone here a software developer interested in using #OpenStreetMap in their applications or website?" - if yes, show them the programming resources slide.

Some blunders -
* I forgot to ask @ravi to assist me, so I was needlessly running around trying to help some 70 people by myself
* I recommended the students to try StreetComplete as "homework"...which makes no sense at all, since IIT Patna is in an area with hardly any features mapped - too few to serve as reference, and too few to provide an engaging number and variety of quests.

My #SoftwareFreedomDay talks in @sflcin and FOSS Meetup Delhi were too heavy on information not really useful to an OSM first-timer. And my OSM workshop at #DelhiFOSS took waaay too long in the intro phase, leaving hardly any time for editing with iD.
This time I was able to tweak the content to have less infodumping, and ensure that at least half the time went into practical editing with iD. I'll keep working in that direction.

Another happy landing. Or - another mappy workshop
I look @#₹%ing gross in the photos, but I'm really satisfied with how this workshop went

Also, thanks to @prav for sponsoring the travel costs. My official role at the conference was to help with the Prav talk and table

I presented #Prav today at #BiharFOSS. The interactive demo suggested by @libreinator and @badrihippo was simple for newbies to understand and made the talk interactive.
The idea was to get two volunteers from the audience, one having #WhatsApp and the other using #Telegram, followed by asking them to send a text from WhatsApp to Telegram. After this, get a volunteer with non-Airtel number to send an SMS to me (as I use Airtel), illustrating federation nicely.
And BiharFOSS is a wrap folks! A sincere thank you to all of the speakers, the audience, and the volunteers for making it a memorable day! We hope that this is the start of a vibrant and active FOSS community in Patna and Bihar!
@contrapunctus wrapping up BiharFOSS by talking about OpenStreetMap and how to contribute to it!
Anuvrat Parashar running a workshop on Functional Programming with Elixir at BiharFOSS
I and @contrapunctus are at IIT Patna to talk about @prav tomorrow in #BiharFOSS. We will also share stickers and flyers. We will be glad to see you there

@bshankar @prav If you have not joined Prav xmpp group yet, you can join https://join.jabber.network/#prav@chat.disroot.org?join
You can also volunteer to introduce Prav at events, distributing leaflets, stickers etc. We had table at FOSS Meet in Kozhikode last week, this week we will be at Patna for #BiharFOSS. We hope to be at #LucknowFOSS as well.
