Global Museum<p>The oldest preserved <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/candles" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>candles</span></a> north of the Alps. They were made from beeswax around 1,400 years ago. Found in the early <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/medieval" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>medieval</span></a> burial site in Oberflacht. The damp environment preserved the candles in good condition.<br>On display at Landesmuseum Württemberg</p><p>@DrNWillburger <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/candles" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>candles</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/beeswax" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>beeswax</span></a></p>

I guess I'm old. When I was a kid, we used beeswax on our skis. And a company back home is attemtping to make it for skiing.</p><p>"Back before petroleum based waxes were available skiers utilized natural ingredients to wax the bottom of their skis. We will not go into the specifics of glide and grip but we will let you know that we have been experimenting with our friends at Pioneers Board Shop in North Hampton on a beeswax based snowboard/ski wax that is effective and 100% natural and biodegradable. Our 5th formula seems to have made a big improvement on glide and I tested it in some perfect conditions at Sunday River at the end of February. Snow conditions and weather play a big role in the type of wax one can use but so far our test batches have performed well over the synthetic waxes that are found on the market."</p><p><a href="https://seabeehoney.com/seabeehoneyblog/beeswax-use-ski-snowboardwax" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">seabeehoney.com/seabeehoneyblo</span><span class="invisible">g/beeswax-use-ski-snowboardwax</span></a></p><p><a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/SkiWax" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SkiWax</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/Skiers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Skiers</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/Skiing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Skiing</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/Beeswax" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Beeswax</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/PFAS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PFAS</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/PFASPollution" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PFASPollution</span></a></p>
The Gardener<p>The kids put the run-off of a beeswax candle into a bowl and set it on top of the wood stove. So now when have a fire, it's we like we have a beeswax aroma diffuser going. <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/LifeHack" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LifeHack</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/BeesWax" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BeesWax</span></a></p>
Siin<p>It has been a hectic but transformative few weeks, but I'm very excited to share that I finally got around to updating my shops with hand-dipped spell candles! </p><p>You can choose from pure white or sigilized candles, and can even send me an image of a sigil YOU designed to be carved into the candle. </p><p>I've also added birthday candles to the shop, something I'm very excited about even though it's out of the norm a bit. As I was dipping the taper candles, and letting my kiddo run around with her very own "mini candle", I remembered her first birthday when family members arrived with those awful paraffin wax candles from the grocery store. I would have loved to have celebrated with candles that I could trust (rather than having to delicately explain to my stepmother why I didn't want *those* candles dripping into my kids first ever cupcake). So, it's a little "off brand" (but fuck it, I'm not a brand), but there they are! Ethical &amp; safe birthday or celebration candles for your next wish :) </p><p><a href="https://ko-fi.com/s/39e3134e65" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">ko-fi.com/s/39e3134e65</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://pagan.plus/tags/KoFi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>KoFi</span></a> <a href="https://pagan.plus/tags/SupportArtists" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SupportArtists</span></a> <a href="https://pagan.plus/tags/Artisan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Artisan</span></a> <a href="https://pagan.plus/tags/ArtistsOnMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ArtistsOnMastodon</span></a> <a href="https://pagan.plus/tags/Ethical" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Ethical</span></a> <a href="https://pagan.plus/tags/GiftIdeas" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GiftIdeas</span></a> <a href="https://pagan.plus/tags/Celebration" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Celebration</span></a> <a href="https://pagan.plus/tags/LaCasaDeBrujas" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LaCasaDeBrujas</span></a> <a href="https://pagan.plus/tags/Beeswax" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Beeswax</span></a> <a href="https://pagan.plus/tags/Local" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Local</span></a></p>
wedge<p>That last batch of <a href="https://woodworking.group/tags/beeswax" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>beeswax</span></a> was not only cleaner, but more; the resulting disc weighs 500g, about thrice the thickness of the others. And my wife reweighed the other discs I had weighed before to find it was a total of 1,7 kg, not 1,2 kg as I had thought. So I’m up to 2,2 kg of wax now, which was my original target to buy. This turned out well.</p><p><a href="https://woodworking.group/tags/ToolWax" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ToolWax</span></a><br><a href="https://woodworking.group/tags/PasteWax" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PasteWax</span></a><br><a href="https://woodworking.group/tags/DIY" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DIY</span></a> <br><a href="https://woodworking.group/tags/woodworking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>woodworking</span></a></p>
