With 8.7M birds dead, B.C. farmers assess avian flu toll, and worry about what's next
There is a window of relief for British Columbia farmers from the devastating waves of avian flu, leaving them to assess the toll of outbreaks spanning more than three years that saw millions of birds culled at hundreds of farms. But they also worry what the next...

In #BC today, Mr #Poilievre announced he will ditch the "WOKE passport that Trudeau designed" & bring back images of soldiers & national heritage. The Liberal govt's extensive security upgrades in the new Canadian passport were not referenced.

Canada's 4 seasons are depicted in our new passports.
Poilievre is obsessed with the images & has raged that PMJT incl. an image of a himself swimming at Harrington Lake.🤦

A lie...but it riles up the crowd.

Took us 2 hours to vote.

Respectful line of neighbours.

People are voting against Sim and his inner council.

I hope we can keep this interest up for the next election.

The advanced voting was a sign and the city didn’t want to read it. Never have I experienced this kind of wait.

There should be MORE voting stations.

@chris

It seems likely he will be removed if this election plays out as the current conservative pollsters are pushing: they are clearly pushing the narrative of "if not #CPC, then #LPC at any cost!"

Which I find extremely telling. Do we really want to elect Angus Reid's second choice after #PP?

Reality is: most #BC and #AB ridings are more likely to elect #NDP or CPC than LPC. This may be true in #SK & #MB, and elsewhere. We need clean data from the sources, not Fournier's weighted model.

"We will fight for a B.C. that can call itself a climate leader again," Jeremy Valeriote, MLA for West Vancouver-Sea to Sky, said. "The B.C. Greens will not give up on an electrified, decarbonized economy and a sustainable British Columbia.”

"Province continues to ensure people are protected from COVID-19, measles" says the press release

simultaneously they removed the mask mandate from healthcare settings, haven't yet made C19 vaccines available (and are tepid at best that "non-vulnerable people" (ha ha only morbid) can or should get boosted), C19 vaccination protection still wanes incredibly fast.

I feel very lucky and honoured to have seen a kermode bear/spirit bear in the 90s when I was travelling up the Central Coast of BC. Black bears are very common but there are only 50 to a few hundred of these bears. They are only found on a few of the Islands and mainland coastline. They are sacred in Indigenous teachings.
