quackademic<p>This is so much more than an individual’s story. </p><p>How about we examine a culture in which senior staff know that their job is to not tell their Ministers things they don’t want to hear?</p><p>It was the establishment &amp; normalising of this culture that led me to leave the <a href="https://mastodon.au/tags/APS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>APS</span></a> more than 20 years ago. It was so clear to see then, who was on a career path (ie competent people who toed the line) &amp; who was not (including all the <a href="https://mastodon.au/tags/neurodivergent" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>neurodivergent</span></a> people for whom the violation of ethics involved in obscuring what’s true &amp; putting our name to falsehoods instead was intolerable). Those who couldn’t tolerate the dishonesty, left.
